Has the new 255hp 6-speed max been tested by any of the magazines yet? If so, who tested it and when? What's the 0-60 and 1/4 mile?

Here's that Edmunds did. From someone else's post http://www.edmunds.com/reviews/roadt...1/article.html

Thanks for the link. That said, the article stinks; How often does this guy have to state that the Altima is better.

QUOTES:
"About the only car that can match up to the Maxima is — uh-oh — the Altima."

"A five-speed Altima 3.5 SE we tested had identical acceleration numbers — a 6.3-second 0-to-60 and a 14.9-second quarter-mile. Both cars weigh about 3,225 pounds, so where the Maxima's horsepower and transmission advantages went to we have no idea."

"In extreme handling situations like these, the Altima is more athletic and sporting, a characteristic partially attributed to the car's more advanced rear suspension."

"This is a pretty short distance for a sedan, though it's a bit longer than what the Altima 3.5 SE can do (125 feet)."

"...you should really consider an Altima 3.5 SE. It will do everything the Maxima can do and take a smaller bite out of your wallet. Just watch out, though; you'll get a case of Altimitus."

"Not any faster than the cheaper Altima 3.5 SE, no nighttime illumination for some secondary controls, more expensive than most family sedans"

I know its just the writer's opinion but most V6 Altimas (that I've seen) go for $29G+; my SE stickered at $27G w/a standard VQ35, sunroof and 17s. And, too bad this guy didn't notice that the Altima is so DAMN ugly compared to the Max (or TL and IS for that matter).

Sorry...just had to vent.

The Altima is dubbed "editor's choice" and "most wanted car" by the staff at Edmunds. A dealership gave Edmund's a price that's very close to invoice for an Altima 3.5 SE (something I bet very few Altima buyers are getting). So it makes sense that Edmund would be "suggesting"/steering their readers towards the Altima.

Personally, I didn't like the 5 speed manual and the steering response of the Altima. Though I certainly won't argue that the Altima's IRS makes it more stable when the roads become windy, rough, and uneven.
