Programming New ECU: 2000 Maxima SE

I'm about to replace my ECU with a good used one for my 5th gen. Is there a cheaper way to get the immobilizer to work with the new ECU than going to the dealer? Do you have to have to Consult 2? would going to locksmith be better option?

Thanks

Consult 2 is a pretty cheap method already. It's less expensive than a NATS delete.

Be sure to take the preventative measures to avoid repeat failure. I.e. IACV fix

I've looked at consult 2 and they are pretty expensive >$1000. NATS is $150 + the $100 ECM from EBAY.

Nissan Data Scan II + cable should have you out the door under $200. Lets you reprogram keys to match the NATS transponder frequency, as well as lots of other cool functions. Its basically discount CONSULT2.

edit- website looks like its way less than what i remembered. Either way, worth every penny.
