Hi all, My 2001 Maxima SE just threw the P0505 code. I pulled out and checked the ECU / ECM and all the chips look pristine. So can I safely presume that I just need to replace the IACV? I swapped out the 15 amp ENG CONT 1 fuse with a 7.5 amp fuse. I am going to disconnect the electronic engine mounts as well. I just want to make sure that I won't fry the new IACV as long as the ECU is not burnt. I have done hours of searching, my head is going to explode. Thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You should be fine.
Usually, a bad IACV damages the ECU, not the other way around. P0505 is telling you that your IACV is bad, so don't drive with it - replace it ASAP.

Question, Do I need to do any type of re-learn after I change the IACV? There was nothing wrong with the ECU, just swapped out the IACV. My throttle body butterfly valve looked awesome. Just a teeny, tiny bit of carbon

No, you don't.
Not with the 3.0L engine - no electronic throttle to worry about.

Help!!!! I changed the OG IACV that with a new one that I bought from Rockauto and cleared the CEL. Drove around yesterday, Idle was great throttle response was great. Started the car just now, and the CEL is back on with the same P0505 code!!! Freaking out, I don't want to fry the ECU. What could be the issue?

Download the EC section of the FSM (link in my signature, below), and follow the diagnostic procedure starting on page EC-505 and page EC-509 in particular.

Dont assume the mosfets are good unless you probed the pins i have repaired hundreds of these ecu's for that issue.

I tried probing the pins on the connector to the IACV yesterday per the manual. There was a quiet "pop" sound and now the connector is chard and the car won't start at all. Sh*t!!
