fuel gauge needle recalibration
couldn't get any solid answers on the maxima facebook forums so I figured I'd try here.
ok so...
I did the awesome LED gauge cluster upgrade( they look super awesome and are a must do on a 5.5 gen)
Now when the gauge cluster got shipped back, it must of took a slight hit because the gauges were all out of whack. I repositioned the gauges (tach, speedo, and temp) and they all read okay now except my fuel gauge.
Now what I did to recalibrate the fuel gauge, was fill the gas tank up to the max, look where the needle was at ( in this case it was off by a quarter of a tank, meaning the tank was full but the gauge was only reading 3/4)
So what I did was pull the needle off and reposition the needle on the F.
Unfortunately, now that the fuel tank is almost empty, and the gauge is reading almost E, the fuel light still doesn't come on and my DTE is reading over 400 miles.
To those that have pulled their needles off and repositioned them after doing the LED swap, what did you guys do to get the fuel gauge reading correctly again and your DTE and low-level fuel warning light working ?
I did this procedure that's meant for altimas but it still didn't work. The one where while you're holding down the trip odometer button in diagnostic mode, you reposition the needle at the halfway point.

Sorry I don't have an answer for you but I do have a question.
What year is your car that you were able to remove the gauge needles?
I have an '03, I want to remove the needles but I don't feel them budge one bit ... even when applying quite a bit of force. Is yours an '02-'03?
