Driver Window Switch Problem

The driver front window will roll up and down like normal. However, the auto up and auto down function on my driver side windows switch is not working for the driver window at all. I dont have the issue of it stopping a couple inches from the top, it doesn't auto up or down at all. All the other windows roll down and the auto up/down works from the drivers switch for the passenger window.

Any ideas on how to get the driver window switch auto up/down function to work for the driver window?

Thanks,
Matt

There's a reset button in the door. There's threads about it. It's pretty common.

That reset switch is not on all years of the 5th gen. Only the 02 and 03. Worth a try if the car has it.

Otherwise it could be the switch in the door and it could even be the motor as it has a limit switch inside it that is used in the auto up/down function.

I kinda quit paying attention to sigs and what's listed by the username. So many people have upgraded or have 5.5s along with 5.0/4th, that I just assume 5.5

I've also only seen this problem on 5.5s.. (both of mine have it, I'm just too lazy to fix).

Well I guess I could update my sig to include the 03 Titanium 6spd I picked up, though I still have the 95.

I tried a few reset procedures - though not the one that involves pulling the switch out. Nothing has worked so far. I may try pulling it out this weekend.

Your original post isn't clear on what exactly is the issue. Does the driver side auto window go up then back down a few inches? That is the common issue that the replies in this thread are addressing. Or does it not do auto up or auto down at all? Meaning you always have to hold the button to get the window down or up?

You can reach down and push it through the door handle cover, iirc.

Nice purchase, btw.

Hi!
thanks for the info!

Im new to this forum and I know this subject has been discussed a million time before but my ride is a 2004 Maxima and I don’t know where this reset switch is located! I removed the windows switches panel on my drivers side door and upon looking inside the panel I couldn’t see it… I don’t wanna go ahead and remove the whole door card. Could anybody tell me where this reset switch is located (a picture would be greatly appreciated!) ??

thanks in advance!
