2 key fobs stop working at same time!

Hi,

I have an 03 Maxima 3.5 Titanium edition. I had some water in the gas, I guess, as I had it into the dealer and that's what they came up with. Just days later with some symptoms still occurring I barely got the car into the driveway before it stalled out (did start after adding an additive to the gas), but started OK an hour or so later. That issue seems to behind me know.

What happened when I went to lock our car doors after getting it into the driveway the first time is that both of our key fobs would not function at all unless they were in the ignition and turned on to at least accessories.

I could then use all the functions that the key fob had, except it would not work at all once out of the ignition nor would our spare key fob that we retrieved out of the house.

Everything in the car works, so it would seem, but the key fobs are useless. I have checked all the fuses and there seem none relate to faulty key fobs let alone 2!

Anyone have any suggestions, the dealer promised to call me back but didn't.

Thanks,

Alan

It not your key fobs, since both do not go out the same time, that's indicative that it could be the receiver on the car that's not working correctly, in your case yours is a 2003 which is part of the BCM (body control module) which is part of the remote commuincator. You may have to take to the dealer to get further diagnosis since there's no way you can troubleshoot it on your own.

There a 3 fuses you should check, # 1, # 10 and # 13. They are all located in the dashboard fuse block.

That are the fuses that control the SECU module?

I got issues with my remote keyless entry, where it stopped working and the battery in the remote is brand new.

That is correct. The power from those fuses I mentioned go to the SECU. The SECU takes that power and uses it for different functions. One of those fuses could be blown and cause one/some things to not work. The key fob remote functions are completely within the SECU - there is no separate module for the remotes. Try the easy things first.

Other possibilities include a broken/cut antenna wire in the rear window, the antenna amplifier module or a bad SECU. Do the remotes open the trunk?

Soo the antenna is in the rear window?

I'll check that because the remote range just dropped as a ton of brick to the bottom of the ocean. I was checking the wiring diagram searching for that antenna wire and I can't found it.
