Did I damage my transmission?

I just bought a 2003 6spd that's wrecked on the front drivers side. Today I was pulling parts off and got to the axle nut. My impact wouldnt take it off so I went to a cheater bar and socket. As I pulled down to loosen it, the axle started rotating left. I did this a couple times with the axle spinning slowly until I realized that I was not going to get it off this way either.

I then noticed the car was in second gear and wondered why the axle was spinning since it was in gear, though it was tough to get it to rotate. So did I mess something up in the tranny by leaving it in gear and forcing the axle to rotate?

Thanks,
Matt

no different than stalling the car in gear, axles are turning just by force with the engine off. didnt damage anything
