Audi S Style mirror

I've always had a thing for the Audi S aluminum side mirrors so I figured why not try wrapping mine in some vinyl in hopes of getting something similar.

Only thing really needed is Vinyl, heat gun, knife, and flat head.

If anyone is curious This is what I did. It was my first time wrapping so any tips or criticism are welcome.

I started by popping off the caps on the back of the mirror. I used a knife to pry at the seam in order to get some room to wedge. Then I used at small flat head to wedge and work the cap all the way around. *Try this at your own risk as I did snap some of the clips.

This was the start:

Make sure to use good quality vinyl, I went with 3M 1080 Scotchprint in Gloss white aluminum:

Once you cut out enough vinyl and began wrapping don't be afraid to peel back the vinyl or re heat. You want to keep working it till you get it to your liking.

Almost there!

One down one to go:

Lastly the finished product:

I think i might give the 3M brushed aluminum or brushed titanium a try next since I was looking for more gloss.

**BTW even with the clips that had broken off, the caps still stuck nice and snug to the mirrors. And with a few spirited drives later no issues.

^^ Looks good, nice job.

They look like my mirrors tho, sterling mist..

It kind of looks like you took mirrors off another Maxi of silver color and put em on yours. Maybe if the mirrors were aftermarket with that silver it would look like some kind of upgrade..

looks nice tho

Thanks
I'm going get rid of the wood accents that the GLE comes with and do carbon fiber instead. I possibly might try and CF inside the headlight instead of painting it black.

Yeah they do look like they came off a silver mist . I should've went with the regular brushed aluminum and not the gloss white. It didn't give the affect I was hoping for. I got a roll of brushed titanium I might try out when I get home. I'll keep you guys posted.

cf in the headlight would be cool...not sure if it heat tolerant tho; so that may be a deal breaker. gle wood trim is so fauxly lolz; get rid of it one way or another.
