01 Speedometer problem

My speedometer hasn't been working since I've gotten the car from a guy July last year. All the other gauges are working properly including the odometer. When i drive it, the speedometer would either go up to half of the speed i was driving or go up to the speed i'm driving super slowly. Could it be the cluster or is it a certain sensor?

That's my first guess aswell, you don't think it'd have anything to do with the cluster? If not i'll just take it by Nissan if i can't find anyone else to do it.

It is in the realm of possibilities, I been chasing a bad cluster issue now for a few months, i keep killing clusters.

Look into seeing if the transmission on the car was changed. Some 2000 maxima's relay the speed from the ABS sensors to the speedometer. If the trans was changed to one with the VSS sensor the cars computer would be calculating speed from both the ABS & VSS sensors. This happened to me already the speedometer went haywire. All I did was unplug the VSS sensor and let the car determine the speed from the ABS sensors.
