Replacement headlight

I hit a patch of ice going around a turn and skimmed a telephone pole and cracked my passenger side headlight along with some other things. The auto shop is having a hard time finding a replacement headlight because my car is an SE and not a gxe, so im looking for a headlight online and have a couple questions.
My maxima is a 2002 se, does the headlight have to be the same year?
and does it even matter what trim (SE, GXE, GLE) the headlight is like they are saying?

I wouldn't mind going for a new look instead of just stock headlights, Will something like this work
http://www.ebay.com/itm/02-03-Nissan-Maxima-Crystal-Angel-Eye-Twin-Dual-Halo-Headlights-Head-Lamps-New-/190979343367?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A2002%7CModel%3AMaxima%7CSubmodel%3ASE&hash=item2c77418407&vxp=mtr
I dont want to have to add any converters or anything

what i have found

From what i have found online almost all ebay headlights are garbage. I have been looking into upgrading the face of my max and according to the forum they are all garbage.

I am pretty sure all 2002 & 2003s have the same headlights so that shouldnt be an issue. However I am not 100% sure but all advertised headlights are for a 5.5 maxima never trim specific.

02-03 headlights are all the same and the only ones worth buying. As far as I know the eBay ones say that they fit 02 and 03 but they're for 00 and 01 and there will be space between headlight and a bumper. Output is **** on them, but I guess you can make them work until you find the proper ones. The best way to make our lights different is to paint them or to do a retro fit. In the end its your car your decision.

Look at the pictures on the ebay auction. The true OEM light will have an orange cable wrap around the wires coming off the attached ballast. That's the one you want. Also note if you are concerned about the color of the light, you'll have to replace both HID bulbs because the bulb from the replacement headlight won't "match" the existing bulb.

And the lights you have listed in the OP aren't that great. Unless you open them to swap in some better projectors. Check out http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/forum.php
