car wont start, what to check besides the starter?
battery is fine so I assume the alternator is working but the car won't start, not even crank once.
I assume a bad starter. I see a little plastic looking piece on the mat. It's white and it looks like it broke off, don't know if its part of the car or what.

so you get interior lights and everything but nothing when you turn the key?
you can get someone to hit the starter with a metal object gently (wrench, small hammer) and try cranking it at the same time. if the starter is bad, you might be able to get one more start out of it that way. sounds like it is the starter though

My mechanic actually started the car with some handheld device attached somewhere to the engine, he's asking me if I have another key because my key is somewhat bent.
Will a bent key be the problem? I don't have a backup key.
He says it's a electric issue.

If the key turns the ignition cylinder, you don't have a problem with it.
The ignition switch itself could be a problem, it is screwed onto the rear of the ignition cylinder.
The park/neutral position switch for the transmission could be the problem. Try wiggling the shift lever around while you are turning the key. Also try this while the shift lever is in neutral.

After this I'll look into the ignition switch.

he wouldnt have been able to start it if the key needs to be programmed, the key programming prevents spark to the engine but not cranking so if he somehow cranked it separate from the starter it still wouldnt start
there are very few things that will prevent cranking, the mechanic should just work his way back starting at the starter solenoid. If he gets no signal at the solenoid, check the ECM output. If no ECM output check the signal from the ignition switch. If no signal from switch then replace it. There really are only a handful of items that will cause your symptom and it should only take like an hour to test it all

The security light doesn't come out, engine doesn't turn over.
I will pass this information on to him, I'm gonna need a new mechanic, I don't think he knows nissans.
Any mechanics in South Florida you know of please pm me.
I don't want to spend the 127 on the key when I don't think it's the issue.

You can do the shift lever in neutral and wiggling before you go buying parts based on someone saying maybe.
If you don't have an extra key, get one as soon as you can. You never know when you might lose your key. Check with your independent local locksmiths and see what they charge to cut and program a key. Their prices will vary but they are cheaper than the dealer.
