I wanna know what you guys think.... can this be done or will i need alot more to run a 12.999?
1 month ago with stock everything open y pipe, intake and manifold spacers i ran 13.896 with only the passenger seat and rear seats taken out

I don't think it's enough...mid to low 13s under perfect conditions.
I'd add in an SSIM along with a larger diameter intake/maf & throttle body. (lose the Injen, IMO)

I was under the impression the e-manage didn't play well with 5.5 ECUs...?

not too sure, havent had an issue runs perfect so far, just waiting for the weekend to bring it out the to the track. apparently this ecu with wiring harness had quite a bit of tunning time on an ecu. 253 WHP and 249 WTQ is what he said.

Oh ok I see you added your original time at 13.8 which is good. Elevation in Ottawa is minimal too. I'm telling you, something in the northeast...must be great density altitude.

With the mods you're adding I still think low 13s.

i am thinking about buying the NWP 75MM throttle body, and i have a g35 UIM sitting , would like to add that soon if i dont get 12.999 or atleast close. Mind you when i ran the 13.8 it was the middle of the day about 26-28 degrees and a very badly prepped track.

when i ran a 13.8 i had stock headers, gutted precats, warpspeed y pipe with some nasty dents in it, same intake but short ram, oil that hadent been changed in 10k+, manifold spacers, block off place, timing advance and the 16" slicks. without the rear skinnies that nwp engineering used and claimed it made a significant diffrence.

It's my opinion but a CAI is only going to hurt you up top...without an SSIM your power curve is severely lacking in higher rpms. I don't have experience with a rwd vq35 IM but I think I've seen dynos on here that show the work put into them isn't as rewarding as a SSIM is.

What was your trap speed on your 13.8 run? Do you have the full slip? On street tires?
26-28*celsius isn't a bad temp to race in.

Headers over gutted precats aren't going to be a 'huge' difference since you've already gotten rid of a major bottleneck (by gutting). You should see the most improvement with the e-manage installed but I'd get a tune if I were you...what was a good tune for knight won't be the best tune for your car.

You're hitting 13.8 on slicks so dropping another .8 is going to take more mods than what you have planned...but take it to the track with the mods you're going to already install. It's nice to get runs in as your progress with mods.

Nice degrees celsius to run in...last time I ran was around 20*C with a nice headwind halfway down the track. Blah

Good luck! Get the timeslip posted in the 1/4mi section and have your friends videotape it.

what tires specifically are you running? i have never in my life seen a slick that was sized like a radial (i.e. 255/50-16 like you said).

i think you are confusing drag radials with slicks.

also, it would help if you listed the details of your 1/4 mile runs.

9 months ago when it was basically stock, just intake and manifold spacers and 2.5" catback i ran 14.1 @98.6.....lol then 8 months later i got it back took out the passnger seat and the rear seats and did nothing else, and ran a 13.896 @ 99.941....9.001@ 79.248 at 1/8th. unfortunatly the track wasnt recording 0-60ft's but when i ran 13.8 it was a constant 13.8, 13.9 up the track and between 99MPH and 100MPH aprox. im expecting to trap atleast 102 MPH

No 4" intake and no 440's, not going to happen.

Go on a 50 degree day with low RH at the absolute lowest track you can find. And a tailwind.

yeah, you have hoosier drag radials then it sounds like, not slicks. a real slick will be better for you if you are really interested in dropping your times.

you're not going to be able to run 12s with only 102mph traps though unfortunately, unless you are the best driver this board has ever seen.

what size would be equivalent to 255/50/16 in actual slicks then and any recommendations as to which company to go with etc? and im not saying im gonna trap exacly 102... im saying MINIMUM of 102 for sure, i dont wanna say a number i wont possibly hit. to me from all the weight as restriction i had in the stock manifolds/precats + all the weight +injectors fuel pump and ecu with rear skinnies im hoping to get a 12.999 pass, to me it seems realistic

and now that fall is approaching with these colder temperatures this should def help alot, considering we are aproaching 10 degrees Celsius at night, IDEAL for running! p.s when i ran 13.8 it was 28-30 degrees outside and only 7pm after the sun sets its a drastic temperature drop.

a 26" slick would be closest, BUT, if you really want to do it right I would do your mods, figure out what you're going to be trapping, and then size the slick optimally for your gearing and power level.

in my opinion M&H Racemaster is the best slick for FWD cars out there.

You need to redo your front brakes so you can get a 15" tire on there though if you want to take this thing as far as you can. M&H (and most other slick manufacturers) hardly make any 16" slicks - your choices are going to be severely limited if you are stuck having to use 16" tires (in fact i don't think M&H makes one at all besides the gigantic ones you see on 7 second drag cars). not to mention 15" is just superior from a traction standpoint.

oh also you are in a good location to get good weather obviously. if you can get some low DA days (high pressure, low temp, but sunny so the track surface is warm) you can probably shave 3-5 tenths just from weather alone.

With just the mods in this quote, an upgraded fuel pump & larger injectors aren't going to help. Fuel mods like those are 'supporting' mods for things the stock fuel system would be maxxed out on, like a lot more airflow. Just sayin.

That tune is my old one and it ran 14.3 at 101 due to my lousy reaction time, and on street tires.

i ran .5 seconds better than knight, without headers and y pipe or underderive pulley, probably a little better traction but now with all these mods im almost positive that ill be running for sure low 13's maybe with a good run and good track temp and good launch ill be able to squeeze out a 12.999

If you get that tuned well and actually get on slicks you could easily do it. With a totally stripped out car on slicks stock in a 6spd 02 a good driver could run mid 13s.

Its not like 12s NA hasnt happened before, SR20DEN did it like 10 years ago and Sparks also did it. Neither of those cars were completely stripped out. If youre willing to really strip the car like you say you are, its not that difficult. Pass on the Injen and go with a 4" warm air setup. Extend the rev limiter to 7200 and replace the BOP with a true SSIM to take advantage of that. With headers, tune, extended rev limit, SSIM, 4" intake, slicks and stripped if you are a good driver it will hit 12s easily

just wondering how would i go abouts extending the rev limiter to 7200 RPM, what would i actually need to do so, i have a Greddy Emanage Blue but dont think you can raise the revs with it. Just wondering what things can be done to get enough power

Can't extend the revs with the blue. Dandymax and I spent a few hours trying to to do that with no luck. You can add/cut timing, add/cut fuel.

To help the car breath better you can gut the intake manifold, put a larger MAF tube on there and the bigger throttle body. But you would have to retune.

Out of curiosity have you taken the car to the track with my tune on the car?

FINALLY AFTER SO MUCH TIME ITS FINALLY working properly !!!!!!
i finally got it to run properly without sputtering, the gas pedal was the issue. i put the greddy back in and it rips realllly hard now with the very aggresive tune!
was suppose to go to the track today, but weather kinda killed it...
now waiting till next saturday to finally get it back on the track and rip it.
from before when i ran 13.8 @99.956.... its ALOT faster....noticebly faster. Im trying to be realistic so im thinking im gonna hit 13.3 at Luskville( which is the ****tiest track around ottawa) if that occurs the following weekend im going to Nappierville to get into the 12's! IM getting there!
12's with a fully stripped 5.5 gen N.A ....BEAST!

The results!!!

Finally got to run to the car for everyone that was wondering, didnt get a chance to change the intake or the setup in anyway, the NWP torque link bracer fell off and needs to be rethreaded, and need to do the SSIM, i have a port and polished lower manifold sitting, just waiting for the upper to be done, and gonna gut a few more little things.
Anyhow:
8.552 @ 86.114 - 1/8
13.109@ 107.412 - 1/4
P.S the car was BEGGING FOR TRACTION 1st & 2nd....pure spinfest! only doing about 2k-2.5 launches

i tried to before, here it is again... hopefully it works this time

never got around to putting the underdrive pulley on either i should also order a 3.5" maf kit from nwp and get them to ship me a new upper to lower manifold spacer piece cause mine cracked.
