Now I have been struggling with the idle relearn for a few days. My one question, that I hope someone can give a definitive answer on, is---does the 2 degree timing advance affect would be the factory idle. In other words if stock idle is around 650 and you then advance the timing 2 degrees is the idle supposed to remain at 650 or does it increase? If it's suppose to increase then maybe my idle is fine at 800. For me I'm able to get a "Successful" when I use the app to do an idle relearn and I get the idle to 650 if I do the pedal dance. In both cases when I restart the car it goes back to 800.

Anyone shed any light?

I'm advanced 2 degrees and my idle sits steady at 690 right now...... I was up around 900 a week ago I did a successful idle relearn and its stuck no problem. You just have to make sure you follow the steps perfectly as far as the seconds go. on the last step after the final release of the pedal start the car and let it idle.

OK thanks. I am assuming I'm doing the steps correctly because when I complete them (...engine light stops blinking and start within 3 seconds) the car goes to 670 or somewhere in that area. I've tried letting it run for 30sec, 1min, 5 min, 5 min then a 5 min drive and still when I restart it just goes back to 800-850. Oh well. I can live with it. The next step with be to try to disconnect the battery after shutting down after the initial idle. Read somewhere that it worked for somebody.

I bought a new dongle on eBay because I was having some time out for no response issues with the app. I now have no connection issue and the data transfer is so much quicker. I had an old big black and orange ver 1.4b elm327. This is what I replaced it with :

Im about to jump on this band wagon for the +2 timing advanced, i want to be able to use both torque pro and car gauge pro for diagnostics as im always helping friends family n co workers. Will this adapter work for both apps and timing advance ? Or is there a better adapter?

P.s. using a galaxy s3

You won't be disappointed..... I already had torque pro and I like it a lot , and that is a very good app but car gauge Pro is much more sophisticated and has some different PID's then torque that can be useful.

Yeah, I've got Car Guage Pro, Torque Pro, and DashCommand. I like all three depending on what I'm wanting to do.

I just received this one in the mail today and it worked great for me. I can advance timing and what not with car gauge. I'm using a old Samsung fascinate. Surprisingly the shipping only took about a week from china.

I'm hoping someone can help me. I got my ELM 327 from ebay today. It came directly from China I guess. My Galaxy S3 sees the OBD2 device, but no matter what pin I type in it won't connect. I tried 0000, 1234, 2345, 3456, all the way to 6789. I tried 7890 as well. What the heck? Anybody have as much of a connection issue as me? I'm going to email the seller and see what they say.

I am pretty sure it is 1234. Some people have good luck with 6789. Make sure you are pairing within one minute of plugging it into the car.

The timing was my problem. I paired it right away, and it worked. What a useful tool for around a $20 investment after buying the app and ELM 327.
Thank you.
On a side note. I was messing around with the RPM adjustment. It's weird to watch your tach go up and realize you are controlling that with a phone. Weird.

I'm another happy user of this new software. I had an old elm 327 adapter laying around that I had originally linked up to my old phone, but had no idea what the password. Turns out it was 6789 as suggested in this thread. If I want to actually drive around with the monitoring software active I'll likely need to get a lower profile bluetooth adapter as my leg was brushing along the one I have when shifting.

After warming my car up first, I then proceeded to advance the timing with no issues. It was at -1 to start, and I have it bumped up to +2. Idle looked good in the 675ish range so I left that alone. This software is awesome, I tried previously to get a local nissan dealer to advance my timing, and the tech wouldn't even try, saying that he knew for a FACT that the timing advance wouldn't stick, since someone had once asked him to advance timing in a Pathfinder and that didn't stick. Ugh. Turns out waiting a few years was required to get this done for $6.

Cipher is included with the Osiris download from the up rev site. I installed it while waiting to hear back on a used Cipher cable. Obviously it was not sold to me.

OSIRUS doesn't come with it. Or, if it does, will not work with our cars. The OSIRUS DL is 400$ if you don't have Cipher, and half that if you do.

The cable is the Nissan Consult II end and USB on the other.

I might need to use the wife's droid to get this (thread talk) to work on the Pathy.

50 dollar android tablet is a hell of a lot cheaper than 400 for autoenginuity. Charge your buddies 10 bucks for the advance and make your money back.

Go here: https://uprev.com/support.php

Off to the right you will see downloads... click on Osiris Installer.exe. When you install you will have the option to install Cipher. If you don't believe me try it yourself. BUT, you will need the cable.

CJ, not sure your plan will work because you will need a code off the cable itself or something. Maybe try to grab one from someone who has it already, I don't know...

EDIT: BTW CJ, those are some mighty fine twinkle toes there sir. Your feet are sexier than my wife's... her's will never do it for me again now.

To be honest the code isnt a issue that i can reverse out the cable i can emulate once i have the protocols its the core software ie full install of cipher not the combo package they have for download.stop fappin to my feet!

Fixed... and man you have extra time on your hands to go after something like that. If you can get Cipher going for cheap (and share the knowledge of course) I'll have to buy you some beers via PayPal sir.

I may have a standalone version of Cipher on my laptop or one of my hard drives somewhere. I'll see if I can find it and I'll let you know.

Me and my friend tried it on his Maxima but it wouldn't stick, we had the loaded up pretty good with 4 of us. You could definitely notice a subtle difference but we couldn't get it to stick. We'll have to keep playing with it, I'll try it on mine as well once I get a new clutch set up in it. Driving my S10 right now ;(

I advanced my timing today i used the adapter cauzindrama recommended with my galaxy s3 there was no errors no issues with the program and the adapter worked perfect on the first try. My timing was on -1 i increased to +2 saved it and the timing advance saved no problem i restarted the car a few times and kept checking its at 17 and sometimes 18. Car feels different i had the AC on and family in the back and i noticed it more peppier. all in all great program ive been playing with the gauges very customizable.

Woot! ordered mine today.

Got the app too. Anything I need to make sure I do before I get into this once the obd thing arrives? Any certain settings? How do I get more gauges?
