VQ30DE motor

I bought my kid a 2000 maxima with 128000 on it and 2000 miles later it sprung a water leak and died, I got it towed to my house and when I checked the oil it was a milkshake lol so I decided I would pull the heads off and boy what a job that has turned out to be, when I pulled the oil pan off there was alot of metal shavings in the pan more then I would like to see so my question is where is the best place to get a rebuilt motor, or where is the best place to buy an engine kit? thanks for anyhelp

Don't waste your time rebuilding its too much work a replacement will run for 300k miles easy if u take care of it.

Yep make sure to search by distance from you since you might find a decent price unit within 20 miles from you.

If you gonna pay ebay reman $1800 pay lil extra and buy one from dealership! i wouldn't trust a ebay reman and then shipping no way.

Hey bigmikes well as far as the reman engine you found on ebay I'll like to say i'm familiar with this place(j.i.s) due to the fact the fact their in my back yard...Arlington Tx...i never bought an engine from the but have bought many oem products that the dealer was asking ridiculous amounts of $ for...If you decide not to buy it(Engine)they even sell the kit you also asked about...
Hope it helps!

you said you found metal shavings in the pan right? And that the oil was milky? That means there are metal shavings all through the oil passages and unless you get every last one of those shavings out, the first thing that is going to happen when you start that rebuilt motor is metal shavings shooting through the oil system up to the lifters, rod bearings, cylinder walls, etc. There is a good chance that some/all the bearings are shot due to running with watered down oil. Its not worth the risk to put money into that motor and have it end up blowing up 2 miles down the road.

Well i suppose it helped to have the right tools that I happen to have and the machine shop had the bearing set that someone else ordered a year ago so he cut me a sweet deal on the parts which are brand name parts im into this so far under a grand which includes oil belts hoses and tranny filter and oil rering kit crank polished, had my young one wouldnt have mixed up the cams it would probably be running, but the people here on this forum are great I know someone will reply with my current cam mix up problem
