Broken Fog Lamp Switch + Bulb Question?
I'm in the process of installing aftermarket fog lights on my 2000 GLE (same fogs shown in my avatar) and I have the LED halos running off the parking lights and I'm in the process of installing the actual lights. I visited a junkyard and there was an 01 Max (20th anniversary edition) and I ripped a few of the nessesary parts from it. I grabbed the fusable link for the fuse box and the fog lamp switch (my 00 didn't come with it). Yes I know I could order Nissan's OEM fog kit, but that would just be a waste since I won't use the OEM lamps.
I have the fuse link plugged in and ready to go, but I noticed that the switch's wiring has been chewed up a bit! From what I know that car caught on fire (not sure how), so I guess it was fried. I already plugged it into my max and it will run all the lights. I'm guessing the damaged wiring was for the fog lights? Here's what it looks like:
Also, since these are projector lamps, I'd like to use HIDs instead of the halogens (tried that, the light emitted was negligable at best). What brand of HID kits do you guys recommend? I would get another $200 pair on my headlamps, but that's just too much Also, should I use an H3 xenon bulb or something different? I tried putting an H3 HID in there before, and it didn't seem to fit very well.
