What is this thing on my transmission pan?

I just bought a used transmission today, same year, same type only thing different about it is the pan has a little spout coming out of it I haven't seen before.

Any idea what it is? I can just swap my pan over from my other transmission but I'm still curious.

That looks welded on there to drain the fluid out of the pan or had a hose running to it to cool the fluid a different way. I not sure about all 4th and 5th gen pans, but there should have been a rubber "grommet" there that you can use to drain out the fluid. I know this because I grabbed a tranny pan from the scrapyard and it had a rubber "grommet" in that hole.
