Zip/beep sound during acceleration and deceleration

Hi all.

I discovered a few annoying things with my car in the past weeks. I have searched around on and off for the past two weeks and can't find anything. So, here's the deal.

1. About every fourth or fifth time I turn my car on it makes a terrible belt slip/squeal sound but it doesn't affect the driving. No SES or CEL light on.

2. The second problem and one described in the title. When I turn the car on, every time it makes these weird beep/zip sounds. I realized today that it makes this sound as soon as I push on the accelerator and then again when the rpm's go back down to idle after I have let off the gas.

Both "issues" don't affect driving at all. Serpentine belt replaced a month ago. Would love some guidance with these.

Thanks,

RC

The belt will slip after its replaced but after a while it will stop completely. As for your zip/beep sound, ??????

That's a possibility. My brother's 2007 Camry had this problem, and it turned out to be a loose/weak ground in the stereo. It was more of a high pitched whirring noise that changed with the rpms. Not sure about a beep or zip sound. That's pretty befuddling.

I can make a vid tomorrow. I am going to make kind of a chart for you to see where the weird noise is.

?- stands for car start
!-stands for the beep
/- stands for acceleration
\-stands for deceleration

Here it goes.

?!/!///////\\\\\\\!

You can see that the noise isn't while I'm accel/decel, but right at the beginning and right at the end.

I hope that makes sense.

When you say "beep" are you talking about a high pitched pager beep or a lower pitched horn-like beep?

-Nathan

P.s. - I am not trying to suggest it's your horn making the noise. Lol.

You need to provide more details - approximate sound location, its recording otherwise it's close to impossible to guess.

I'd suggest Road Runner making circles around you .

Seriously - is it coming from inside the car or outside? Drive next to the brick /concrete wall with window down/up so you could localize it better.

It is coming from the engine bay for sure because I had my dad turn on the car while I had the hood open and I could hear it in there. Its a high pitch beep/zip sound.

Did you replace the AC belt, too?

How about the Tensioner Pulley? These have been known to make really weird noises when they get old. Ask me how I know.

"Zip! Beep!", eh?

No I haven't replaced them. The tensioner pulley is the third pulley holding the serpentine belt on the top right?

I bet the two problems are related.

Did you buy a good belt or a cheapy?

A cheap belt will sometimes squeak when brand new.

Also, check your pulleys, tensioner and idler pulley for bad bearings.

Use an automotive stethoscope to find which pulley has a problem.
Be careful. You don't want an encounter with a belt or a pulley,

On the serp belt, there's the main crank, the alternator, and the AC... the tensioner/idler pulley is the other one, right next to the alternator. (I keep getting the AC and PS mixed up as to which one is on the serp belt.) And while the pulley itself could be the problem, it could also be that the tension is too tight or too loose, which is why it's adjustable.

Here's a gigantic diagram:
