5th gen Off Topic Thread (Official Ghustle thread v1)
I'll start it off...
edit,
If people don't want to keep it going then don't. We still have tons of info to share and we can still chat the way we used to. Now you just can't post pics like people have been saying. It's not really hard to figure out what's appropriate or not so lets do this right. Keep it in a clickable link if you really need to share, unless you are asked not to do that.
Bring on the car talk
pps: I should said Ghustle come for me, technically speaking my car > joo

continuing my convo because I hit submit and was greeted with a licked thread...
THIS^^
I love both devices. I wanted to get an android just to play with. The biggest thing is I can see both the pros and cons of each device while fan boys are stuck on one side while neither is actually better than the other. It's so dumb. I've never once said the iPhone is a better device. I just defend it against blatantly stupid arguments about people who only know what they read on hating fan sites.
Not having flash sucked at first but so much is converting to html5 that it's really a null point. Not to mention HTML5 wont he battle and flash is dying. The small screen is biggest gripe right now. It feels so small. I want some more real estate to work with. My data connection is HSPA+. While it's not LTE and shouldn't even be compared to LTE (they are VERY much different) comparing it on the same level as devices in it's connection class, the iphone has a very fast connection.
I'm not sure what the complaint with multi tasking is. When you want to switch to something else you do. And when you want to switch back it's right where you left off. Problem is dev's get lazy. You can code the app to finish tasks in the background before "hibernating". devs just don't do it for the tiny apps. Apps like facebook, twitter, or any music apps all have tasks running in the background like they are made to.
The device is fragile but in 3 years i've never broken an iphone. and I have a 3 year old that uses it constantly. I rarely use itunes as well. I just have my phone backup to the cloud. When I want to sync old pics and music I plug it in, itunes pops up, I go and put a check in the boxes for what I want to sync and click go. it's really not as convoluted as people make it out to be.
Not really. You can do most of the same things. Both can be just as reliable (and unreliable) both stock and jailbroken/rooted.
The biggest downfalls for me are, no flash support, small screen, slower data connection, fragile glass, no (make shift) multitasking, having to go through iTunes for everything, and being tied to nothing but the apple brand.
The UI is personal preference and can go back and forth on the debate between that. Also, I don't like the fact that apple as a company adds old technology in their new flagship devices but boasts about it like they invented it... Then they turn around and sue those that came before them. But that's not what the discussion is about. It's about the device itself.

When it all comes down to it, it's all personal preference in the end.

you do know that flash is being killed off right? Everything is converting to HTML5 and using less and less flash. I don't even know the last time I went to a site and it didn't work because it was in flash. I mean seriously..read up on this stuff before you just start spewing fan boy hatred. It's sad.

I wish there was a way to go back through the thread and compile all of the useful info in there, and get rid of all of the junk.
There's a TON of awesome info in there. Unfortunately, it's lost amongst all the clutter.
Hmm..
I might've just found something to do with my spare time when I'm sitting home bored.

1) Remove all the clear junk posts
2) Remove all the technical posts that are actually junk

I can't believe the group of y'all that are getting butthurt that Dan closed the old thread.
He let us have a new one. Technically, by the forum's rules, this thread is illegal. Be thankful that he let the other one go for almost two years, and then let us open up another one on top of that.
