Anyone try Ebay Engine mounts/Shocks ?

My Engine mounts are gone. Car is driving hard due to that problem. I have looked around, and ebay has them at a decent price at $50 per mount.

Front struts are at $100 for a pair for the front. I need mounts apparently and not the struts themselves.

Question is, Has anyone tried them on their 02/03 ? I dont think these mounts are electronic...especially the center and right passenger side one.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have the same situation and was wondering about them as well. They are tempting for sure.

get the full set from amazon or ebay and you dont have to worry about the electric mount at all just swap it with a regular mount and try to get yourself mounts made for the MT so you can upgrade to ES mounts in the future if you deside to MOD

I'd stay away from eBay struts. GR-2's are about $90 each for the fronts, about $60 for the rears.

eBay mounts: yes, have a couple. Still evaluating long term. But seem good and easy/cheap enough to replace if they do fail in a couple years.
eBay struts: NO. Get a known brand. Buy a known brand off eBay is okay, but nothing else......NOT something you want
To try and replace if it blows in a couple years.

I have eBay mounts as well. I poly filled all of them.

From my experience, I have found they are softer compound than the OEM mounts.

Mine were labeled with Nissan Cefiro 2.0, and I would venture to say all the other ones on eBay for the Maxima 5/5.5 gen are as well. What that means is, these are replacement mounts for the 2.0 4 cylinder Cefiro, not a 3.0/3.5 V6. Potentially they are not as robust due to different weight in engines. Just my theory...

Got my engine mounts from the 'bay too, seem soft, but they're still doing their job a year later in my car $20 for each mount shipped is a win in my book.

My ebay mounts lasted about a year. I then swapped the bottom ones to the ES mounts.

There's a seller on eBay which sells a set of all 4 for about $80-$100.

Used these when I returned my car to stock and had one minor fitment issue. My front motor mount bracket didn't fit nicely onto the cross member, the fitment was too tight and wouldn't line up with the bolt holes. I basically just bent the bracket "open" a little more so that it would fit. Drove the car around for a couple months with these eBay mounts + inserts, inspected them before selling, and they were in good shape still. Can't complain for the price.

IMO, rtv is too soft to do anything but split and crumble apart the first time you give the car throttle.

You could buy some 80 (or close) shore poly and fill the mounts. That would do something. Filled all four (tranny and motor) mounts on my '89 turbo. But, with the option of installing ES mounts, that would be my suggested course of action if you are looking for stiffer mounts.

Yes. They're pretty much all the same for 95-03.

I heard 3M WindoWeld works pretty good. I went the ES Torque Mount direction though.

Appreciate your help. I ordered some today. Only thing now is getting them put on. How hard do you guys think it is to install these ? I have changed the spark plugs on this car, which were a PITA. Is this worse ?

If you don't have the proper wrenches and long extension and a jack that can lift the car high enough and trying to re-align the mount bolts on your own? Yeah, you're gonna cuss.

I think i have all the proper tools. Do we need deep sockets ? I have jack, jack stands, and all the sockets and extensions needed.

I think i would cuss regardless. Changing the oil cooler gasket made me cuss.

When you put the jack on the engine, with the 2x4..Do we cross mount with the oil pan...or lift on the transmission

eBay engine mounts are fine. I've replaced all of mine 03 SE with eBay parts. I bought the front w/ electronic sensor off eBay for $75 shipped. The other the three was sold as a package for $89 bucks. Installed them on Nov/2011 good as new.

I've replaced both front struts w/ KYB R2, great strut, just a little stiffer than stock. I got them from Advance auto parts for $90/ each, but you can always use $30 off $75 code which lows the price down to $60. Don't forget the Moose bellow for the strut. They're $30 for both after using $20 off $50. Good luck

Yes. Slightly more vibration in an auto. Not a big deal. Better mount IMHO. Why I replaced mine the same way.

re

I was quoted $140 to have them changed. What do you guys think ? That is labor only. I think the non electronic is better, as it would be less prone to failure.

I am going to try the first right mount myself, but if i am unable to...then idk

If $140 for all 4 of them then go ahead, good deal.

No! it not. It's way stiffer than the electronic one, which causing lots of engine vibration at idle, you can even feel it if you rest you hands on the steering wheel. I bought the set which came the front (non-electronic), got installed for about two weeks, but and-up removed and replaced with the electronic one bought from ebay for $75 bucks. Dealer wants $273 for it.

It can't. You either can buy an electric mount which is an oil filled mount, or a regular rubber mount that is designed for manual trans cars.

It's not dangerous, just not comfortable.

But if they're electronic there is a chance they could adversely affect the ECU.

re

Guys,

The mounts came in today. All look good, and all of them were actually listed for Maxima and not cefiro.

I am thinking about changing the transverse mount first. Question is, How does this mount pull out ? I know that the nut is under the body, but how exactly do you pull it out ?

Im trying to look for a how to on it somewhere here....guess there isnt one
