Got a huge ding in a parking lot today
Some idiot hit the side of my car in the mall parking lot with a door. Its high in the center of the drivers side door, right down to the metal too. It's the first mark on it. I was furious - still am furious. Called the body shop at the dealer, who told me it would be between $125 and $300 to have it fixed. What are people thinking when they do that?????

If your paint isn't chipped the ding can be removed by Dent Dr. It's about $125 per pannel usually. Takes about 30 min. and you'll never know it was there when it's finished. I had my first ding on the front fender removed about 2 months ago. Couldn't believe it when the guy pulled it out of the shop. Can't see a thing, it's PERFECT again.

How close were you parked to the other car? I usually if I have to park in a public lot try to park next to a nice car. That way maybe they'll be more courteous when opening their door.. Cuz some ppl just don't give a @!&^#!~!

I agree, or I just park really really far away...cause people here are jerkoffs and don't give a rats *** about other people's property. I have a huge scratch on my door and a ding on my front corner panel and it's gonna cost $650 to fix...plus the little dings from people open their doors like madmen. Sorry for the long post..had to blow off some steam.

Me too!
I just got my 2002 Merlot GLE christened in the same dang way yesterday too! I'll going to try some of that Blue Coral Sratch remover, but otherwise, I'll have the dealer take a crack at this one and the scratch in my rear bumper cover.

I've seen people slowly open their door and rest it on another car, thinking this is OK. This action will still leave a scratch for the simple fact that their car door will move up and down when they exit the car.
I try my best to park far far away. I also look for end spots and squeeze my car near the curb to leave lots of room between the line and the next car. However this never works. People don't wath the parking stall lines. They park by gauging how far your car is from them, squeeze up next to you, and pop a nice dent.
Really try to watch out for REAR doors. These are the ones that will put a nice pot hole on your panel (rear doors usually will have nice sharp corner).
Ok, sorry for going on...this is a sour subject for me...better get back to work. Sorry to hear about your dent. We all share your pain.

That's the worst. I think most people at maxima.org are conscientious and actually are careful about dinging or scratching other people doors. But, like others have said, most people are clueless and don't give a ****.
****es me off too. We all try and be careful where we park and how we park and then some jerk comes along and dents your door anyway.
Yeah, I wish I could kick some azz when it happens too. Damn, I feel your pain!

I'm with all of you on this subject as well.. I'd love to catch the b@stards.
This guy I work with has a company 01' Yukon. The other day he was sitting in a parking lot waiting to back out because this guy is walking between the drivers side of the Yukon and the other car parked. Well, as soon as he got towards the front of the Yukon he slipped on a patch of ice, smashed his head on the front fender, left a perfectly round dent in the fender, and knocked himself out.
