My 2003 Max is making horrible grinding noise from the front axle -- it can only be wheel bearings I am convinced at this point based on what I was able to see/inspect last night and based on what I read in numerous posts. It would seem they are a very high failure rate component on this particular gen?

My question for you all is:

do I need to replace the hub at the same time?
are there any other parts I should replace along with this at the same time?
The front struts are worn, I will likely do them at the same time.

Don't know until it's apart, it needs to be inspected at that point and deemed good/bad by a competent inspector.
If it's super sloppy rocking back and forth when you lift the wheel, you'll probably need a hub.

are there any other parts I should replace along with this at the same time? Not unless there's other worn components. if there are, it's a good time saver to do the other stuff while it's torn apart. You can only pre-plan so much though, and taking wheels off isn't that hard.

Thanks for the reply. I came up empty handed for a sticky or DIY on bearing replacement for this gen. Anyone know where I might find this? Since a shop press is needed, would you recommend I just have a shop do it? I used to have a FSM downloaded for this gen Maxima but that hard drive crashed long ago. Anyone recall where that is available for download?
