Who Makes Blue Springs for the 5th Gen?

A local is selling these springs for a 2000-2003 Maxima, but knows nothing about them. The price is right, but I'm trying to find some info on them to decide whether they are worth it. Anyone recognize them?

They look like progress springs. Probably re-painted though because I have never seen light blue like that

They look like these and if they are $50 new, I don't want to know how much you're getting them for:

^ That's what I was figuring, but the progress ones I have seen are a different blue. I'm definitely not going to throw them on blindly, so hopefully someone can make a positive ID...

also a different blue, but LMAO if these are it - make them sound like better that Eibach/Tein/H&R at a fraction of the price!

If it's too good to be true - my car would probably end up in a ditch!

Anyone know if those Ebay specials are worth getting? Seems like for 50 bucks they would suck, but occasionally a good one slips through the cracks..

no they look nothing like that. THose are lateral spring rate springs that are a dime a dozen and what he has are progressive rate springs. Im 90% sure they are progress brand springs

^ I thought about that, but the pics in the ebay listing seem to be generic. I guarantee you those in the pic would not fit the Maxi

At least you know who made em...or just save more for whatever you want...

Nah, I'm probably going to go with Tein H-Techs or Eibachs. Was just curious to see if those might turn out to be something worthy. The guy wants $100 if anyone's interested. I'm just waiting to find a bargain on one of the above.

He's charging $100 for springs and he doesn't know the brand? I would definitely stay away.

You can get used springs on the Classifieds here for $100, ones that you actually know what they are. I wouldn't take the chance.

I agree. Nowadays, $100 is a lot to throw away so blindly. Not to mention the amount of work and time to put them in, end up with crap, and having to do it over agian. Now it's just a matter of waiting for someone to want to get rid of their springs...

It's tempting, but I wouldn't chance it. As the old addage goes - if it's too good to be true, it probably is. There's a reason that tried-and-true companies don't lower their price to compete at that level. There's someting to be said for investing in R&D.

Unless you don't mind taking a chance at throwing away $50 and half a day's work in putting them in to find out.

Yeah I think you're right. I'll probably end up with Tein's. I enjoyed the S-Tech's I had on my Subie. Everyone here talks about using the H-Techs on the Maxima, but aren't those kinda soft? Seems like the S-Techs would be better. Stiffer, but better overall.

^If it was maybe even 10 years ago, I'd agree with you wholeheartedly but with a wife & 2 kids now, I think twice of going even with the H-Techs. I really enjoy the stock ride, but can't stand the cornering performance (after driving BMW's for the past 12 years or so, it's been a pretty dramatic change for me). So I'm willing to compromise to some degree to improve handling, but nowadays the conservation of my kidneys and fillings is a priority

Progress used to be charcoal, but my newest ones are blue.

Any logos or anything of the like on there?

IMO, after 9 years of experience with these cars, Eibachs, H&Rs, or good coilovers are the best options. H-techs and Progress look nice, but are too soft for the amount of drop. They ride nicely on good roads, but what springs don't? On bad roads, it'll be bouncy and/or jarring, even with good shocks/struts. S-techs are just too low, the suspension geometry on the A33 can't handle that, nor is there enough shock travel. If you want to go lower than say an inch, coils are the only way.

I took the chance of throwing away $50 on these springs. As soon as I recieve them and install them I will keep everyone updated.

Good luck to me

Ehh, at least for a $50 gamble you get something for it. Of course, you may get springs that compress and stay compressed....

That's not blue......That's Teal! Those are Early Progress Technology Sport Springs, the later were Charcoal grey....Is there a sticker/decal on the bottom coil?
