leak in 5 M/T 2000

leak in 5 M/T 2000
Has 209k miles but been slowly leakin from where shift linkage goes onto tranny theirs a rubber cover or seal their and it stays soaked in gearoil but if u clean it and feel it its clean and moist not dried out or cracked at all.
where is this oil comming from!!!!! a shop said pull tranny out open it and completely reseal it cause he couldn't see where its commin from.

A leaking seal doesn't have to be punctured or anything. A tiny leak underneath your car can "look" like a disaster as the airflow from underneath blows the **** all over.
Replace your shift rod seal - you have to punch out the roll pin in the yoke (with boot pulled away) and then the shift rod/linkage will slide out. You could probably just "pic" out the old one and install a new one and hope that solves it. Not expensive and not tough to replace, if you see thats where the leak is coming from it makes sense to replace it right?
