Blower Fan/ Cabin Air Filter Write- Up

Hey Guys so my blower would make a lil rubbing noise so I went under there and cleaned it out. And might as well make a write up for all the n00bies out there. I saw a lot of pics for the 4th gen but not 5th so might as well do this.

1. Go ahead and open the glove box and start removing these bolts.

2. These bolts are in the foot well.

The next screw is under this panel. Go ahead and remove the plastic nut (pictured)

3. Now just give a gentle pull and the glove box should give way you will see two harnesses. Remove them. One is the light. It would be smarter to just move the clips on the yellow one. DONT UNPLUG THE YELLOW HARNESS THAT IS YOUR AIRBAG.

4. Now if youre looking for the blower heres what screws to remove.

5. For the cabin air filter just remove the clip.

I hope this helps all you guys! Good luck with all your mods fixes and everything. INSTALLATION IS REVERSAL OF REMOVAL GOOD LUCK GUYS

Yeah I mean I just basically took it out and cleaned filter with vacuum and took out fan and took out some crud and wiped out the housing plastic where it sits and no more rubbing

Guys ****This is key dont unplug that yellow harness. That is your Air Bags if you do your light will turn on****

Hey can i get some support to put this in the stickies?

Ask a mod through PM. It's not very likely since it's been documented several times. Housecor's link. If you haven't perused that site, you should take some time to do so. There is a lot of good information. Nmexmax has tried to clean up the 5th gen stickies, but it is, and has been, a huge mess.

Good job, though! It's great that you took the effort to create a writeup.

I just did this on my 01 SE-Anniversary. I looks like it had been done back in 2007 when the car had 57k miles. I am now at 107k miles and it did have some leaves and crap in there. Thanks for the pics and video. This definitely helped!

Went in pretty smooth, on the middle section where you would think stuff will slip in they got little ridge's that lock in place, and way better quality than the **** that was in my car, dont know if it was a Nissan one, but win all around fresher air and my A/C and Heat works way better....

Went to the Walmart near me to get one of those Fram Fresh breeze filters and found out Walmart doesn't carry the right filter (two piece) for our cars at all. Only 6th gen and newer.
However almost every other Nissan vehicle including Sentra Altima Murano and 6th Gen Maxima uses Fram CF10140.

Would the Cf10140 filter work in our cars ? It is a one piece unit

Product Type FreshBreeze Cabin Air Filters
Product Height 1.18"
Product I.D. 3.8" (Width)
Product O.D. 10.84" (Length)
CF10554 Two Piece Set

Product Type FreshBreeze Cabin Air Filters
Product Height 1.18"
Product I.D. 7.88" (Width)
Product O.D. 10.72" (Length)

Just buy it, take it home, take out the old one and see if they match up and if they do open and install or doesnt fit take it back to Wal Mart and get your money back.....

Cleaned out my cabin air filter yesterday. Fan was making a noise at low setting so took that apart as well. Multiple pine needles in the fan itself and a leaf. Hear a noise down there might wanna clean it out real quick. Thanks for the write up maximaboy12

By replacing the filter and cleaning out the blower fan did you folks notice an improvement in efficiency in addition to less noise? I'm about to do this within a couple days an I'm excited about the results. I have already taken a peek in the filter area and it's pretty atrocious. Those OEM filters are so flimsy.

A/C Water Leak Down Passenger Side

From the point of replacing the filter and cleaning the blower motor, how would you get to cleaning out the rest of the condenser system to make sure it's draining properly? I've had a leak down the Passenger Side from under the glovebox / right side of the console area. I've narrowed it down to the A/C system because I still have the leak after weeks of dry weather. I tried using a hose attached to a blow-gun on my compressor to clean out the drain-hose from the firewall up, but this did not help. There have been posts saying to clean-out the condenser box but I haven't been able to find any instructions or pics on how to do this. Any advice? It's getting hot in south Florida summertime not being able to use the A/C without flooding my car.

Hey guys. I went back to try to clean all the gunk off my a/c coil but
I'm having hard trouble trying to remove the box.

The a/c coils has TONS of caked on dirt and leaves. I've removed every bolt I can see
and the box will not pull out.

Is there a writeup or a diagram I can fallow?

The "clean" parts is where I could spray maf cleaner to.
