advise please.... something is wrong! help

I have a GPS unit in my car and from time to time I lost signal for the GPS system. What I do to get back my signal is disconnect the negative terminal on my battery for 15 minutes and then I reconnect it. When I start the car bam!!!! The signal is back. This time something went wrong. When I reconnected the negative to the battery my check engine light came on my GPS and radio doesn't even turn on and my car slips while I'm driving..... not cool at all....! When I'm around 2000 rpms the gears will slip and the car will accelerate because I'm obviously giving it gas. Then it will catch around 3000 or higher and drop down quickly where it catches again. Prior to me disconnecting the cables from the battery I never had this slipping problems. Could this be the tranny or can it be related to the check engine light. Beside the radio not working and this slipping issue I have no other mechanical or electrical problems. I check some fuses and didn't find anything. Can I get some advice before I go to a mechanic....

man you have a lot going on I would start with the CEL and go from there, if you have factory nav then something could be loose behind it and you may need to pull it out and check because having to disconnect a battery for a signal is too much. Good luck

sounds like a bad fuse maybe from disconnecting so much, that or maybe a bad ground. you should just run fir codes and if anything decides to pop up, that's always easier than having a shop bust your ***** for stuff that won't fix it. but GL and let us know how it works out!

I think you should start checking some fuses.start at both black boxes under the hood then inside the car.dont use the "well it looks good"method your nav issue could be the gps antenna sence the wires are really weak and could be a break or wear btw the gps antenna is in the rear driverside trim panel next to the back window.if it is bad i have seen some units that do have the standardized plug on them.but your first concern should be the CEL and related codes.
