Is my alternator on it's way out?
The past week or so every time I start my car voltage is between 10 and 11 and my battery and brake lights are on. It goes back to normal (usually 13.9 volts) after about 2-5 minutes. I cleaned the ground on the alternator and the connection above it and it made no difference.
Is my alternator on it's way out or is there something else it could be? How different is changing the alternator in the 2k3 from the 2k-2k1? I found a couple of write ups for changing the alternator for the 2k-2k1 but nothing for the 5.5 gen.

Same situation happened to me. You're alternator is going out, time for a new one before you get left stranded. Mine went out fairly quickly.

my girlfriend's 00 cougar was doing that and of course she decided to wait, she got stranded an hour away from home, i bought a battery at walmart, took it to her, she drove home killing the new battery and got home, then i returned it
