The infamous steering whine...

So, when i got the car i had to replace the high pressure horse. Replaced that, car worked fine for several months until i got the steering whine. Thinking my pump was going bad, i replaced it only to find out the whine continued.

Ive flushed the whole system and used dexron 3 A/T fluid and bled the system properly with no success. Ive checked for any leaks; rack and pinion, the pump are dry and the fluid level has been the same for months now. Checked all the hoses and vacum connections as well.

So, does anyone else have this infamous whine and tried all kinds of things to fix it with no avail, or has a fix? Im getting irritated by it.
Thanks.

Same for me, I didn't have this whine before the line was replaced... I'll subscribe to this because I thought it was the rack & pinion..

My new PS hose is in the mail waiting for me, so I guess I'll use this if an answer comes up as reference if I ever get this whine

Did you happen to replace the steering hose with an OEM hose or one of the aftermarket hoses?

when you say the pump was dry are you referring to the exterior as in no leaks or as in there is no steering fluid in it? I replaced my high pressure hose a year ago on my wife's maxima and the car doesnt have the whine noise your are describing.

The exterior of the pump is dry like it should be with the fluid in it.

I do have an aftermarket high pressure hose but i replaced it long time ago as soon as i got the car and i did not have the whine when it got replaced.

I replaced mine a few months ago, I believe, and no noise/whine here. Its my daily driver so I bought the part from autozone not Nissan.

from what i know it's because you (and me) bought aftermarket and it doesn't come with a restrictor like the stock one and it actually allows too much fluid through
