Bad Wheel Bearing question.

She's a 01 5speed with 215k miles. The noise and shakin started 100miles ago i finally jacked up and entire wheel is loose in all directions! its really bad i still been driving it on highway and gonna tackle this tommorow.

I've never done a wheel bearing never had one go bad on any my maximas so if i remove the entire hub can i just buy the bearing and take it to shop to get it pressed out then new one in? or do you guys think the whole Hub is screwed by now?

Id say 4500 miles ago i had same issue but damn cv axel nut was loose i torqued it and all play and noise went away n now its for sure a bad bearing.

Thanks Guys,

I doubt that your hub is messed up, but if you change the whole thing you can do it yourself. If you change only the bearing you need a shop or a press.

If hub is good i wouldn't mind jus pressing in new bearing.

But if it is bad could i use a hub off a 97 maxima a/t? my abs light is on anyways?

The shop should inspect the hub, but do tell them to do the inspection and not install the bearing if there are signs of damage.
I think I got the bearing from JC Whitney. But price compare to Auto Zone (high last I looked), eBay, and Rock auto. Get the Timkin.

Also, check with NMexmax.....I'm thinking he had some for sale, but iirc....he is selling the spindle and bearing already assembled (brand new). Save ya the trip to a garage.

Definitely get the hub as well, I've done two with similar symptoms and the hub was pooched both times.
