ok i gotcha i was thinking that a socket with a slot in the side would work but i have an induction heater at work that can heat that thing up is no time but im just worried that it might effect the o2 sensor... those things see alot of heat u think it would be fine? and also i need to get a new crush ring for the rear cat but since i took the front manifold off do you think i will need a new gasket or is that 1 fine?

I reused mine because it looked fine and have no leaks but i don't want to be the guy that tells you it's ok and then you got a leak but in my case i may have gotten lucky. Heres a pick of that 02 removal tool if you know a mechanic and can borrow one or buy one if there cheap enough

welp been busy as fawk the past 2 days so the cars just been sitting in the garage untouched but ive been gathering up some needed supplies to finish up the job, the manifold gaskets were only 14 bucks so i went ahead and got them and also a new crush ring for the cat... a tube of gasket maker just incase i feel the need and some lock tight... i guess tomorrow after work im just going to go ahead and take the reast of the exhaust off the car so that i can take it into work and use heat on the stubborn bolts, all in all i should have this thing back on the road by saturday at the latest.. I am enjoying driving around the 3rd gen tho, although slow it hugs corners really well and its loud :P

WELP! i guess i can add "gutted Cats" to the list of mods now All went well and i finished up putting everything together about an hour ago... I took the car out for a spin because i was too anxious to wait... Upon start up i noticed a little more gurgle than before...lol i took it up the street in a kind of aggressive manor and spun first, second and chirpped 3rd pretty good lolol.. all in all im happy as can be and so far "cross my fingers" the CEL hasnt made a guest apperiance yet so thats a good thing! Any how after all that work im happy with the out come and in 2 weeks or so ima go test it at the track and try and beat my PB!

That's the sound!

Very well done, OP. Welcome to the club. We meet up the first Tuesday of every month, and newbies bring the beer.

Congrats.

Yep, it's at idle that you'll notice the deeper tone. A little at WOT, too, but at that point it's probably already so loud it's hard to differentiate.

Without back-reading, 'cause I'm lazy... did you use the plug non-fouler trick on the secondaries?

yea i put the 18mm anti foulers into the secondaries...not sure but when i finally got the 02 out of the y pipe i shook it a couple times and could hear somethign rattling inside of the sensor itself so im not even sure if its working or not but it took only about 20 miles to trigger the ses light... im about to go run back out and we have a car meet tonight at my local walmart lol so ill see how long it takes to come back on..

Ouch. Is it possible one of the sensors got damaged during this process? That would suck. Well, sit tight and wait for the SES, then see what the code is.
