Check Engine Light Replacement
Hello guys, i did a search and only found threads on how to take the cluster off... I'm trying to find out what is the bulb that i need to replace my check engine light bulb. Its dead! need to pass inspection and well without it it will not pass.
I know how to take the cluster off but before i do i want to order the bulb so im not doing the work twice. Does anyone know the bulb number or where can i order it from? I need to do this ASAP.

I think all the cluster lights are #74/#73/T5 wedge base bulbs (all more or less same thing)
On a 5.5 gen I think all of the cluster indicator lights are surface mount LEDs.
I would wait for others to confirm/deny but I know Tuner is really intimate with every light on the car

When I bought my car, the SES bulb was completely "missing". I went to a junkyard and got a few of these off of a couple of Altimas:
The little one has "Toshiba A14V1.4W" written on the glass and "Toshiba V-2" at the bottom of the twist base. (I can't make out what the other one says, besides "Toshiba"). I believe the little one was the one I used for the SES light.

Interesting. I looked at the parts listings for all 5th gen year models and there is no listing for a bulb only. Nissan doesn't list the parts that are soldered into a printed circuit board, they want you to buy the entire printed circuit board. It could possibly be the same bulb as referenced above and soldered into the pc board, but that is just a guess.

What year and manufacture date is your car OP?
The 2000/2001 models that were made in 1999-2000 had the bulb on the left in the pic below, and can be replaced very easily once you remove the cluster. You can buy generic aftermarket replacements but I don't recommend it, the suggestion to get them from a junkyard is a very good one.
Now, the 2001-2003 models that were built in 2001-2003 have LED's for all indicators, these require a considerable amount of work to replace, including removing the needles on thegauges, thusly needing calibration, really a big PITA. But, the good news, I doubt that you have a 2001-2003 build date maxima because the Nissan indicator LEDs justdon't burn out... so it's quite unlikely that you have the LED style.

Sorry to disagree with the master but have the same issue my check engine light is out and also my tcs and slip are burnt out and this on my 03, i have many problems with this cluster from the burnt out led to a messed up gas gauge, i have also purchased two cluster and have received them broke, first one the lcd screen was broken the second one the tach was jumping and was not reading correctly, and the temp was also reading incorectly. Im at the point of forking over the 700 for new cluster from the stealership.

I haven't run a 2002/2003 so I'm speaking more from reading on here, obviously the LEDs don't last as long as expected... strange. Verysorry to hear of your bad experience!

If you received two clusters and they were both bad (three incuding your stock original cluster) don't you think the problem might be else where and not be the gauges. You should check the wiring for correct voltages before plugging in a brand new $700 cluster, seems unlikely that all three clusters are bad.

Naw it was the clusters that where bad mine has famous gas gauge malfunction and burned out check engine and tractiin control, the firs one i bought everything was working perfect except for the mileagr screen was broken, the second one i purchased the tach and temp gause where acting weird, the tach would move slowly it would jump thru rpm band. And the temp gauge read incorrectly.

Either way, why buy one from the dealer? Get it from the wrecker....
