My girl friend has a 2K maxima and she took it in today for an oil change. I did not go with her but they told her that it is getting to be time for a tune up. She said no thanks and then they asked how many miles she had on the car. She said about 23K. The guy then said oh ok, while around 30K you should do a tune up. She asked how much and they said between $150-200. I though these cars did not need a tune up until 100K miles??? I can see changing the air filter and maybe the fuel filter but a whole tune up at 30K? The dealer also asked her while she was there for the oil change if she wanted them to make some adjustments to her car for $150. Again she said no thanks. She said don't I have a warranty incase something goes wrong with the car. I agreed with her and have the feeling the dealer is trying to scare her into spending money. At 7K miles they wanted to flush her radiator. Is it time for a new dealer? Every time I go with her, the car seams to be 100% and never need any work. What do you guys/gals all think?

Yep, your dealer is trying to rip her off. Your best bet is to read the maintenance schedule that came with a car, and do only things that are required. Spark plugs are not supposed to be changed for 100k miles, and adjustments on a new car, this is complete B.S. I would not trust that dealer ever again.

I agree with the previous posts. I have 48Km (29K miles) on mine and it never cost more than $32 CDN for each checkup.

flush radiator and tranny fluid at 30k along with oil change and filter change. Replace air filter also and rotate tires. At 60k, you may need to change the plugs and do a little more, but nothing major at all.

go somewhere else, i hate unhonest dealerships. Show them who the real boss is.

Plus ask for a list of what they actually do. Most will say something like we check this and we check that without actually changing more than the oil. I mean anyone can look at you engine and charge you 200 but who knows if other than what it says they replace they even look.
