Need a few suggestions on my project

After changing out my Main cat with a magnaflow unit and a set of flanges that i welded to it i have been thinking about the pre cats now.I see racingline has them for the 04 and up and after looking at the pictures of them i was thinking the following.Take a set of jy precats cut off the top flanges clean them up so i/we can use the factory gaskets and buy 2 steel core magnaflow cats with 2.5" in/out cut one end off the cats and weld them to the OE flanges i know this sounds like a hack job but its all about Price and reliability to me.as far as price goes the 2 steel core cats cost $40-$60 the 2.5" SS U bent pipe cost $40 and 2 new 3 bolt SS flanges for connection to the Y pipe cost $25.I know it will take a bit of time to jig this up for alignment but the cost savings over the replacements avilable is a good amount.I have been thinking about this because i had many issues with replacing the pre cats on my old 03 and i had tried both eastren and the other brand and they had alignment and gasket issues. Please feel free to give Any comments, flames, suggestions or experiences.
Thanks!

if you feel that it would serve you best...I'd say go for it, and post pix with a final review of how you feel the project went
