Getting an occasional pending P430 code and once a pending P1147 code. All started when I added a can of Seafoam to the gas last week. Must be cleaning out some nasty stuff in there. Hopefully once I burn through this tank and put some fresh gas in it, I'll be back to code free.
In my other Maxima (the one that got totaled), it had been code free for a good year and a half.
2002 Maxima SE 6 speed, K&N panel filter, GAB-more gears, more fun! Now no more, RIP 9/01/11
2002 Maxima SE, NWP block plate, GAB, Warpspeed test pipe, Vibrant FSTB, grounding kit, smoked tails. RIP 1/16/2011 due to a pile of garbage drunk driver
So far in two years all I got recently was P0340 for that bank one camshaft sensor but I changed that and all is well again. That stalling was annoying as **** lol.
Since I bought it! Idle code, forget the number. Having a 2000/2001 SUCKS for codes, I need to invest in a code reader. Cosider yourselves lucky if you have a 5.5 at least you can reset your codes yourselves.
I also have ABS, SLIP, and TRAC lights on. It's a yellow party on my dash every time I get in!

This one is normally present when there is an issue in the charging system .ie weak battery or an alternator on its way out and not delivering the correct amperage

I've had the P0456 code twice. Once on the day I bought it, and once about 8 months ago. Both times I cleaned up the nasty filler neck and the code went away. That's it in the almost 2 years that I've owned the car. So, I voted no.

Had to use the dremel to get the neck all smooth so my new gas cap would seal tight. Code went away the very next day.

And a CVT can be dyno'ed all you need is to do is remove ABS relay
Why do you think I have a code reader? My first 5.5 gen, the first 18 months I had it I dealt with regular SES lights. Last 18 months not at all. A lot of are cars are hitting the age when stuff like pre-cats, MAFs, O2s, etc go out. Once you get everything working right again, you tend to be SES light free.

Thanks for that tip (nohomo) but my battery/alternator are in good shape.
I assumed it was due to the broken Wheel sensor, and because its Auto, that throws the Trac and Slip light off too? Just made logical sense, I haven't bothered to fix the sensor yet.

I am surprised with the resounding 'NO'.
I'm impressed with the poll results... so far.
Good thread OP.
haven't had one since the week I bought the car, about 10,000 miles ago

I had my SES light for the longest time. After getting it scanned it happen to the O2 sensor and P0011. After adding oil and deleting the code it hasn't bothered me for the past few weeks.

Leavn' the modn' to u guys!

bought my car in 09 with 36,xxx and im at 64xxx now and only code i have had was a p301 at around 50k which was a cylinder 1 misfire.Threw a coil in it and cleared the light,so far so good.
Dang! When the poll had 15 votes, fully 2/3rds of those who voted had a CEL of some sort. Now, with 47 votes, it flip-flopped to only 1/3rd of people who voted having a CEL, approximately.
I, too, am surprised there are so few codes being tossed around! Whoever said they thought the 5th gens came with CELs from the factory got me to chuckle--I was under the same impression. I guess this is good news for those of us who are struggling through the code game, though. If this many cars are good to go with 37K - >250K miles on them... Yeah, that's a good sign.
It's a relief to see engine problems being a vast minority.
