It is ok to put one in there. My car didn't come with a filter either and I installed one. The housing is there to receive it.

The cabin filter is located behind the glove box.

There are some instructions around here on how to replace it. It involves handling the side air bag plug, but it is an easy task overall.

Might want to have the air bag reset procedure in case you accidentally trigger it.

Just follow the instruction as step 4 clearly states not to unplug and i would follow them closely.

Ending up snapping the hinge right off my glovebox when I replaced my filters..

Everytime I open the thing now, it falls to the floor....HA!
