It can happen, its moreso luck of the draw buddy... it happened to the person who owned a 5.5 with evo2 catback and I bought it and repaired it and it never burned mines... doesn't matter the brand exhaust, it just happens to some ppl

dont they have like some metal piece that you can add to the inside of those, maybe a custom piece of some sort, that you can put on the rear lip to prevent this from happening? when i finish driving sometimes i feel my bumper is blazing hot, but hasnt melted it, yet....

naw, not a rear splitter, it would just go right around where the tip of the axleback comes out, but makes sense as well...unless its titanium (or whatever metal it is that dissapates heat).....i maybe on to something

I've heard of riveting in a piece of aluminum or carbon fiber around the edge of the lip where the muffler sits to help disperse heat.
Aluminum disperses heat rather quickly. So it should help a lot in keeping the lip cool.

Yes it has happened with aftermarket exhaust. Moreso worse with the ABS rear, as mine melted completely in half and was drug about 15 miles down the highway without me even knowing it. Good times.
