Not only that but to get those 15 posts you bumped, oh I don't know, probably ten if not more 7+ year old threads to do so.

you should have looked in the thread for this sort of thing...but, be weary of the manual transmissions as they are known for popping...@ 188k miles...the transmission was the only major issue i've had, although i had a time finding one...everything else was minor and regular maintenance and its running pretty stout

in short...everything.

it all depends on how well it was maintained, if the oil changes were done on time, every time, etc.

if maintenance was not kept up then some of the things to think about are:

maf
coils
struts
o2 sensors
crank/cam sensors
valve cover gaskets
timing chain guides/ tensioner
water pump
tie rods
bearings
LCA
engine/tranny mounts
tranny slipping
engine burning oil
exhaust
pre-cat/main cat
fuel pump
injectors
etc, etc, etc....

you get the point.

good luck.
Search button is your friend, use it, you'll find a TON of useful info. This has been discussed hundreds of times.

don't bump 7+ year old threads, keep the org organized.

welcome to the forum.

That was good for a chuckle..... you silly boyz.

***************

To the op:
This is a pretty good list.
maf
coils
struts
o2 sensors
crank/cam sensors
valve cover gaskets
timing chain guides/ tensioner
water pump
tie rods
bearings
LCA
engine/tranny mounts
tranny slipping
engine burning oil
exhaust
pre-cat/main cat
fuel pump
injectors
You've got ALOT of miles on that Max - so sky's the limit on what to look for -- but this is a good start.

Go with the obvious, and cheapest things first, and work your way up!
Hopefully you got one that isn't an OilBurner, a tranny eater, an MAF *****, or a Coil consumer.

welcome aboard!

Correction, rapid fired the 15 worthlessly, and then posted in the "Thinking of buying a 5/5.5 thread" about the clutch (which you will burn off trying to adjust the catch point) instead of saving this thread. Win.

I've got 183,600 or so miles on my '02 with a 4AT and so far, so good. In the last 12 months, I've replaced the precats (found a pair of used, low mileage ones from a .org member who put headers on his car) and the passenger side engine mount.

So far so good with the engine and transmission, struts will need replacing though.

Best advice is to change fluids regularly and take care of any problems immediately so they don't get worse.

Ahhh .. Seriously, these are fairly worthless threads. Same as your 15 posts to get here.

You need to research more... Spend the time dong that vs bumping old threads for 15 posts, and then posting 3 or was it 4 useless threads.
