178K miles and still runnning strong.
I went to San Antonio this past weekend (started in Dallas) in the Max and was impressed on how well it is still doing considering its mileage.
Although my struts are worn out the engine and trans did not skip a beat..
The only other car I ever traveled in with high mileage was a 1991 suburban...it had 161k on it.......
I have always preferred a Maxima over any other car and highly recommended it to any one looking for the complete package vehicle.....

Maxipads will run and run if you maintain them, some 02+ have over 200k and are running strong still. My old 89 that I had I sold it to a co worker with 213,000 miles it now has 256,000 and its still running strong on the original VG30 engine.

Just bought an '00 Max SE 5spd w/176k on it, engine still pulls strong and tranny still shifts smoothly, I'm happy. Need some suspension work and a paint job but that's about it from what I can tell. Can't wait to start modding

I just bought a 2001 i30 with 218k from a friend who moved to Hawaii and couldn't take it with him. I'm fighting through a P0430 now (hope to not have to replace the pre-cat) and need to replace the right rear ABS sensor to get the light turned off and the ABS back on. For what I gave for the car, I'm happy. Going to take it from STL to Louisville, KY this weekend, for its first highway run under my watch. I hope others that quote high 200s and low 300s are right, as I hope to get to that level myself.

My dads 2K Max runs like day 1 still. Flawless. The body is another story, only rustproofed twice, its doing the typical rear end quarter panel rust.

It's been a southern US car for it's entire life. No rust yet, but thanks for the heads-up.

I just live with it on my 02 cause the car runs great, but I do have to add a quart of oil every couple weeks (I drive a fair bit for work)

This is an encouraging thread, and nice to see for a change!
I'm just over the 80k mark, and I'm hoping to go another 5 years and 50-70k before I retire the max.
Everything is running well, with the exception of needing the entire suspension refreshed soon.
No MAF, COIL, O2 Sensor, or Precat failures YET -- but I've been burning oil for some time. Fortunately, I can live with it as it is.
I just moved back to the Rustbelt and already it's beginning to show, despite always bathing the car after a DOT salt-bath in the winter.
Maybe it's time to look into Rustproofing??? Anybody got comments on this??

Just gotta actually make sure the rear quarter area is actually repaired and sealed off so that it will really slow down the rusting process.
I get all my cars KROWN rustproofed up here in Canada. The stuff is awesome.

I have purchased many cars in my life, one or two a year because I get bored of them I guess...Not very smart I know...but have had 4 maximas. plus my brother recently bought a 94 with 230k on it and talked my nephew into getting a 2000...why? because they have driven or been a passenger in mine and know how well they run...strong engines...PERIOD....

178k mile still run strong
If your case fit to majority of maxima owner, then Nassin make a big mistake. Why they make such a durable and nice car?Once people own it and never let go.It is very bad for stimulate of the economic .Who is going to buy the new model Like me,even i can affort to buy the later model but I still keep the 2000 one.Tell Nissan about this.

That's the same mentality used by the big three and look where it got them.

Vikas-So far nothing major, had a hub/wheel bearing issue that is probably due to improper reassembly by whoever worked on the car before I bought it, that was the only really expensive repair ($450 or so), replaced the radiator, a couple O2 sensors, the precats (bought a pair of used ones from a fellow .org member who had put headers on his car), outer tie rods and just changed the passenger side engine mount. Not too bad for 3 years of ownership and 68,000+ miles.
I do need struts and the typical high mileage engine leaks (valve covers), other than that, everything else seems pretty good

Just rolled past 100k in my 2002 6-speed SE. I think I'm going to keep her for another (2) years or so... So, I'm repainting the bumper and touching up a few kicks here and there ($850), purchasing 2009 M35 wheels and putting new Potenza's on ($1350) and then H&R's in the front w/ Illiminus all around, Moog Front mounts, OEM Dustboots and bumpstops and strut brace ($900)a Berk intake ($300) and new fogs ($200)
So, another $3500 (ouch) and I'm DONE! But, I hope to really enjoy her for the next few years. So, $3500/24 months and that is $145 a month cost of ownership, not bad!

The reason I got them fixed was because my brother backed into my rear passenger door and since the rear fender and front door also had to be repainted to blend in the repair, I had the dings removed.

Nice to see a positive thread...I'll jump in.
Bought mine 9.5 years ago brand new. Now has 179k miles.
Replaced Coils, MAF, alternator, plugs, and belts. Needs an O2 sensor. Doesn't burn a drop of oil, still on the original clutch too. Still runs strong.
Have always burned 89 octane and synthetic oil at 7500 miles.

Wow! 178K I'm on at 77K so it sounds like, from you guys that I have another 100K to go! Well my stealership tells me what they might take a trade in..they say at 77K miles that my rear axle needs replacing...at 77K...and because of that they would take it off my hands for...get this...3K. Really!
