Bye!! 02 Maxima 6MT

About 2 weeks ago, OK had encountered alot of hail. Long story short, my maxima got hailed on and was considered a total loss...

Now its sitting at a salvage yard, waiting to be auctioned.

Total amount that would cost to fix the damages came out to be $8546. (cant see the damages in the picture) but the front and rear window needed to be replaced. both the headlights cracked, roof had about 60 hail dents and the hood had about another 60.

My insurace cut me a check and i decided to say goodbye to the nissan game and went towards something that I have always wanted.

Picked up a 2006 Acura RSX-type S that i got for a steal. 9k miles on it, pearl white, leather seats, with a smooth 6sp transmission.

Plans for this one is gonna include BOOST

anyways here are some pics!!

In a straight line, stock to stock..the 2002 maxima will take the win without a doubt. But i can see some potential with the type s.

Im still all about nissan at heart!!! lol

How the hell did you find a 06 RSX-X with 9,000 miles on it?! They can be just as quick as 5.5 gens with the same basic mods; I/E/H/reflash so keep that in mind instead of the boost bro. I always liked your old max, sorry to see it go.

People are selling MINT 5.5 gens for less than the Insurance company gave him ($8500)

How are you gonna flip one that was already totaled out by insurance, especially after putting more money in to fix it?

You get it for a low bid, get a hood maybe 300, front windshield and rear like 300 for both in Cali. a little body work and paint and bam sell quick out here 4500 or 5000 easy!!

But sorry for the lost and good luck with the RSX!

Basically, not saying you'll make 10k. But insurance gave him 8+. Take 2, and sell the car for 45 depending on miles which idk.. Reguardless you could of made money off it. I've seen some get bought back for 400 dollars.

Thats koo, but people are also driving around in 1970's buick, so not sure where your going with that... like i said, the pics didnt hardly show the damages. My whole front windshield was cracked, along with my headlights, every single panel of my car had major hail dents and i didnt wanna spend money on my cars appearence. Belive me, I have taught about it hardly and strongly. But with the hassel, it wasnt worth it.

I was in the market of selling the car soon, not THIS soon, but was considering it!

I had to pay the insurance company 20% of the cars actual value and that came out to be around 1800-1900 dollars, after i get a new hood, fix the windows, get some headlights. that puts me around 2500. (not to mention, wouldnt be repairing the hail dents) and the car would be salvage title. I would have a rough time selling it for 4500-5000

I didnt want the hassle so i just let it go.

Got it from an old guy who didnt hardly drive the thing lol. Imaculate condition!! and yeah i know i can reach some decent power NA. But i wanna either supercharge it or turbo it. I got bored of NA power from the maxima...

it used to crunch, but when in higher RPM, it simply wouldnt go into gear, then it would grind like a **** everytime i put it in 3rd... syncros (I would say) were going out.

i wanted a 4cyl because i have alot of options with it. Plus a lighter body helps alot...

Thanks, thats 600 plus 1800 for the car with a salvaged title... Here in oklahoma, there are many cars which are for sale from the hail.

I forgot to mention, the car was running rich as hell because since i knew it was considered total, i cut the wires from my SAFCII, I had a vac leak from my intake manifold. The spring and struts were on without any care and were making noises. My intake was on loose from not have all the piece from the OEM intake. My front bumper was damaged from a shop. The foglights didnt work because when the shop ran into the lift with my car, they ripped out the sockets for my foglight. Clutch needed to be replaced, both my axle were messed up, and needed to be changed ASAP. The car would rattle because of them, and needed to change the wheel bearing on the pass side. ummmm i think thats about it, I will post some more when i think of other stuff

True, I was very close of doing that, but i wouldnt have enough money to pay this car off... lets say i put about 2 grand more and bought newer car with 9k miles on it.

I always find it interesting what people say you should do with your time and your money. As you get older I can ASSURE you that your time will be worth far more. I'm glad you let the Max go, it absolutely was NOT worth the hassle. Enjoy the Acura.

We just had ours replaced too Jason. Those Mexicans stripped and replaced that roof in one day. There were like 6-8 of them, even had their own cook on site so they didn't have to leave and take a lunch. lol

I was looking at these before I got my max but at the time they were outta the price range I was looking for. That's got the K20 right? That's supposed to be one of the best 4 bangers out there. Nice ride man. It'll be nice to have a small turning radius! Lol

I'll probably regret asking this later, but to what type of standard do you think you could possibly fix this car to with $1,000?

Probably fairly easily if you are good with body work and can DIY it.

I could get it fixed for a **** ton less too, but not $1k me thinks.

PS. I want those rims for my dads 2k.

My other car is an 03 rsx type-s with 72,000 mi. Sadly the turning radius isn't that great but boy does it handle well. You can push it so much harder than the maxima into any turn. It also gets AMAZING gas mileage. The problem is its just not really that fast...

Also the cheaply made dash/trim/cabin pieces all rattle. It gets pretty ANNOYING without music on.

Anyways thanks again for the key fob and lip spoiler from your max!

Black/black it looks sharp. Ill take some pictures of both cars tomorrow since I don't have to work. As for the gearing I really I don't drive it much its my girlfriends car but I'm pretty sure you can go way above 100 in 5th gear. I'll go test it out tomorrow haha.
