Its a black box behind the drivers-side rear wheel. Disconnect the box (3 bolts) and inspect it for cracks or the ends starting to seperate. If thats the case, silicon is your friend.

Also check under your fuel cap. If the filler neck opening is all rusty, that will throw the code too. Mine did and I cleaned up the neck with Scotch Brite and the code hasn't come back in almost a year now.

And i even tried a new gas cap. But how long is it going to take for the cel to clear itself or do i have to delete/erase it myself get back to me thanks

I did replace the gas cap and i also cleared the code but the ses came back after a week, my next step is to have my shop do a smoke test to find the leak.

Any update on this? I have the code and plan to inspect it thoroughly before getting the smoke test done.

One of the possibilities listed in the FSM is the EVAP canister vent control valve. On the 4th gens, the EVAP canister vent control valve is becomming a problem as the cars age. This valve is by the canister and has a plunger inside it that will stick and not move as it should. You can open up this valve and clean/lubricate it.

I've gotten this 3 times since owning my max. The first time, I reseated the gas cap and it went away within 30 miles. The second time I replaced the gas cap because the mechanism in the cap that keeps you from overtightening woas slipping and not allowing me to tighten it. I purchased an aftermarket cap from Autozone and had the same problem from the start. I ended up picking one up at nissan, problem has been gone for 3 years.
