Performance gain ideas on N/A

Hey guys, i know there are a few posts out there describing performance mods to increase horsepower but many of them are lengthy and scattered about. My question here is what are some possible ways to bring our cars up besides the usual exhaust, intake and headers (which many of us have probably done) without any force inductions. My goal is to try to reach the 330-350 horsepower range. Thanks in advance!

for N/A you're limited to headers, intake and exhaust. NWP spacers, and cams.

Port and polish, big bore MAF with bigger injectors

As Knight_yyz already said there are the usual bolt ons, and you would need every one single in conjunction with:

- High compression pistons.
- Stronger rods, bearings, bottom end.
- Built heads (Stronger valvetrain for higher RPM)
- Individual throttle bodies for each cylinder.
- Stroker Kit
- Nitrous

Basically you need to look into the All motor section of the forums and read what other guys have been doing or are doing to achieve more N/A power.
The bottom line is, its expensive to try and eek out more HP from and N/A motor. Some would question the dollar/hp ratio as being way out of wack vs F/I.

Google up some; Cosworth, Brian Crower or Mines too see what you are into if you plan too build a 350HP N/A 3.5

Full exhaust, sri, cams (which tend to be very expensive for our cars), Nwp Block plate & spacers, Vafc-2 (tuned), ECU reflash, then id work on reducing weight! Maximas are very heavy

Deckedout wont reach 350whp, that much i can guarantee. 300whp with a good tune is in his grasp thou.

to reach 350whp and beyond a full on stroker kit will be needed. i dont think it will be worth it but whatever.

Yep, if you want to reach 350whp N/A, you are going to be spending around 15-20 grand. Anyway, this is a starter list that may get you there.

-Brian Crower or Cosworth stroker kit (3.8-4.3L) and tons of $ to have it installed
-Cosworth heads or custom work on stock heads.
-Donkey d*ck cams
-Haltech platinum or HKS V-con engine management and a perfect tune
-Custom long tube headers and 3" exhaust.
-Cosworth intake manifold with custom work done to fit or a custom sheet metal intake manifold.
-Many more small things and hidden expenses.
-Something wrong with your head to put this much money into a FWD maxima.

300whp has been proven doable by JayPee with full boltons (correct choices here), 3" exhaust, tune, and cams.

to get those kind of numbers the best advice you'll get is to buy another car- like an old F body, an import turbo or something like that.

Why not go F.I. It would cost thousands less...

I'm piecing a turbo build together right now and the total cost is going to be less than $2000.

he will easily get more than 300whp.... jaypee has way less mod than he does and got 304whp.... no port n polish, no LRmaf, and he could use more aggressive cams... you can easily get over 300whp... 350 on the other hand is out right un heard of, and most likely will be unseen...
i believe jaypees corrected numbers were 291whp

There are a few 350z/G35 NA builds that have gotten into the 350 whp range, but those included strokers with serious cams, long tube headers (REAL long tubes, that we can only dream of putting on our cars), and amazing IMs like the Cosworth. Let me also note that not all NA strokers make 350whp (most don't). It takes a perfect combination of the right parts and non street friendly cams/heads. Honestly I'm not sure we'll ever see a 350whp NA maxima unless they find a way to fit some serious long tube headers.

Paramy is not doing a serious build like that and like you're saying, he'll likely be in the low 300 whp range.
