STAGG SHS STRUTS - Anyone ever here of these??
#163
So after riding on them a couple days I say they were worth the $369 (4 springs and 4 struts).
I had some initial confusion that the seller JDMWERKS never clarified. In the end, I got what I ordered but just on two separate days, which is no big deal necessarily. I personally would've like a little more communication from the seller when there was an issue, after all, I am the customer!
As far as stiffness goes, they are a noticeably stiffer than stock but not a lot...enough to notice a difference.
The drop is 1.5 front and back and I don't think it was too dramatic. I think it looks good even on an all stock Maxima. The Maxima itself seems to have a bit higher ride height being it's a mid size car so IMO it had plenty of room to drop (if that's what you're looking to do). When I walked up to the door and then when I got in is when I really noticed the drop.
The biggest difference I notice is in body roll. Now, I did have blown struts before the install but I remember what the Maxima felt like before. Both in accelerating and decelerating and both turning left and right there is a significant decrease in body roll.
Overall, worth the money if they last...as with anything! So only time will tell on that. But, I'm definitely satisfied with my purchase and install!

I rode on them for about 3-4 months before I totalled my old Maxima. I've had my GR2's for about 5 months now. I must say with the GR2's is more rare to bottom out than with the STAGGs, but great quality ride from both, as long as you dont drive like a maniac.

I ordered a set of STAGG 350z struts and Tein S.Techs for my G35. Review to come when they get here and get installed. This should be a good test as far as "bottoming out" goes, considering the G platform is a good bit lower than the Maxima. And even more so when you strap Z springs and struts to it.

Have these on my 2k2 SE. I must say I am impressed! They are paired with S techs as well. The only rubbing or bottoming out I have had is when turning the wheel all the way in either direction and hitting a small bump. Ie. backing in parking spot or in my driveway. The ride is amazingly good to be lowered that much. My wife said "it doesn't feel that different"! I am extremely happy with my purchase as long as they last.
Btw I am running a 245/40-18 with this setup.

How can you tell if the mounts are still good for the rear? I did the front with Monroes a year or two ago & now my rears are shooooot w/ 102k on them. To me, as long as they work I am good. A friend is going to install them for me. As far as performance I am going for Bilstein hds @ 367.50 for all four ouch for my 99 ta vert that I share as a toy w/ my good friend. Even better all of my mods only cost me half.. I am much younger then most of you young bucks @ 46 lol. Yikes.

Happy new year to all.
n00b here, trying to replace my stock struts and maybe the springs as well. considering this stagg shs with progressive springs. I will like to know if i'm thinking in the right direction. This, hopefully, is going to be the first of many conservative mods i'm thinking about doing to my 5th gen. Old wisdom is VERY welcome and appreciated.

I put them on the rear, the front has year old sensatracs. Now my car is like a race car lol just kidding. It did make a difference because they were so shot. Also got rid of the vibrations I had.
They are an inexpensive replacement and worth the price. I will put Bilstein hd/s on my t/a. As far as longevity I don't use either of my cars for work so I will be a while.

The right way to decide on your suspension is first by picking ride height knowing that the lower you go, the less comfortable the ride.
Use this as a guide: http://www.shiftice.com/spring_strut_decision.html
THEN your strut should be based on your spring.

Been riding on Sensen struts and TuningPro "blue" eBay lowering springs for 4k+ miles and not one issue yet. Cost me $200 for everything.

I have ordered the stagg struts, is it ok to use my stock springs or should I go with other springs.. I have 150 k on my car, not looking to go too low, just a nice ride, in a pot hole ridden city called Buffalo, NY.. Thanks!

Just my input since I put all 4 Stagg Struts on my 2001 Maxima on Stock Springs.
It's definitely a lot stiffer than stock. Ride quality is pretty good. I didn't expect too much considering what they were worth but i was surprised they lasted >20k miles before i sold the car. Even then, the struts were still pretty stiff. I had these on in Chicago, where roads aren't that friendly to the shocks...at all.
So worth every penny...but i had them on stock springs.

Recommend replacing your front strut mounts (with Moog mounts) and all 4 dustboots (with OEM replacements) while you're doing the job / getting the job done.

I tried your link and that web site is very confusing, I couldn't find any prices?
They have sensens on rockauto for pretty cheap but I didnt see the fronts.
I really need to do struts, and Im trying to keep this as cheap as possible, I have been reminding myself this car is 11yrs old now, with 225kms and im probly not going to drive it more that a couple more years, if that. If I was to lower at all it would be mild, only to even wheel gap and gain a little better handling. So these stagg's or the sensen's could be good enough, since any new shocks are an upgrade at this point, especially for the price.
I would be installing with new moog front mounts and oem dustboots, and pairing them with stock springs or mild ones like h&r, h-tech etc..
I just cant pull the trigger on anything yet...

Money is just tight and these cheaper options just keep tainting my judgement. Canadian prices suck big time, I think this would be an easier decision at your prices.
The cheapest I have found GR-2's is on rockauto, and they are about $450 shipped and the stagg's I could get for around $250.
Then I have to buy mounts and boots, the boots are offensively expensive at a canadian dealership $160 just for the fronts, and another $120 for the rears! Shipped from courtesty nissan they are about $150, which isnt cheap either. Mounts I think are about another $75 on rockauto for moogs.
By my calculations, thats almost $700 if I go with GR-2's or $500 with stagg's, thats almost the difference of the price of lowering springs.
I have been beating this decision around the bush for too long, and need to make up my mind, having a blown front struts is killing me.
