HID Ballasts for 30000K bulbs
Heyy! I bought an HID kit for my fog's last year and they burnt out realllyyy quick. Everyone told me it was because they were so hot (30,000K-Pink), but when i hooked them up to another ballast they still worked. So looks like i need new ballasts....
I'm NOTTTT getting it from eBay because thats where I got them last time and obviously they sucked. I'm looking for really good quality.
Any suggestions?
Tnx

If you must...
Pick up a relay for the fog lights as well. Its $10-15 and will make your fogs more reliable since the relay draws power directly from the battery since our cars were not designed to have HID fogs. Its called a relay harness and it will cut down on delay and flickering.
Check the group deal section..there some vendors that sell HID bulbs and ballasts.

They burned out because you got a cheap crappy kit, not because of how "hot" they were.
My girl was running pink HIDs for a while as some know. We've swapped them out for 6000K bulbs and they're still working just as good. Definitely pick up a relay for your fogs. It shouldn't be too expensive.

Infrared is a very -long- wavelength.
It has a very low color temperature, under 1000K. Low energy photons.
"30000K" HID kit is not actually a 30000K color temperature. It's just a marketing term for pink-tinted HIDs.
If they really were 30000K, you would not be able to see them. They would be deep ultraviolet. You would get skin cancer.

It was suppose to be random, but everyone likes to look smart.

Haha being different and setting new trends is always good!
But aren't pink HID's illegal? I am not sure about other states but if you are seen with any color ranging from deep blue to green or whatever headl lights its a instant pull over, I even got pulled over once for having fogs lights that were too yellow.
But I think it must have been a new cop or something because all did was warn me the color is borderline illegal and I just nodded at everything and I haven't been pull over again since because of my fogs...

Now for being pulled over because your foglights being to yellow is sort of ridiculous as well because you should be able to show white and amber/yellow from the front of the car. You sure you didn't get pulled over because one of your fogs was getting in on some sniper action?

Aftermarket HID's are illegal period. HID are only legal if it's OEM for the car. It's a federal regulation, so it doesn't vary from state to state. While indeed kits are illegal, I really think of this regulation as an IQ test. Getting these ridiculous 30k hid kits is just asking for trouble. If you have something that is more OEM like, its less likely to attract trouble (but don't get me wrong, doesn't mean you still couldn't get caught).

I'm interested in some pics tbh. I think pink/purple usually only look decent on completely built evo's and m3's. Just my opinion... Anything below 500...no...600 whp should not have the pink/purple hids... Cause that would be..

Hey guys, One of my headlight bulbs turned pink and died out 3 days later, so I decided to purchase the whole HID kit not knowing if the ballast or the bulb was the problem. I received my 6000k D2R HID kit today from HIDextra.com, i tried installing the bulb first and it worked(the bulb was the problem)so right now im using my stock ballasts with my upgraded 6000k bulbs(compared to the 4300k stock ones). Will i get better lighting if i change my stock ballasts with the new ones?? or is there really no difference? if it doesnt make a difference should i use the new ballasts for my fogs??
thx guys

I wouldn't remove the stock ballasts unless they stopped functioning... there won't be a difference in the light output as long as both are the same wattage, which they should be (35 watts). The only difference is that the reliability of the factory ballasts is a bit better.

Well, the question as I understood it was that he had already replaced his bulbs because one had burnt out, and he didn't know whether to replace the ballasts as well. If the OEM ballasts are functioning properly, there is no improvement to be had by replacing them with kit ballasts.
