No will power = horsepower?

I sold some stuff on eBay and then I decided to dig around a little, which resulted in me spending $207.99. I won a set of Eibach springs AND a header.

I'll admit the header was an impulse buy but for the price I got it, I figured it was worth checking out. I am sure I can resell it here for what I paid if ti doesnt work out. I don't know what brand it is and neither does the seller and he bought them for his '02 Max. The only thing is it doesn't have the loop on the back-end that the Hotshot, cattman etc all do...does this just make them unequal length? or are they crap? Anyone know what brand they might be? I am guessing OBX or something...

Sorry that the pic is so small but it's all I have.

umm o0o, the actual headers look fine but the y-pipe....u would actually have been better off buying those 4th gen headers that cost like $120 shipped, its y-pipe would flow much better.

You're still gonna get decent whp gains just cuz since you have a 5.5 gen your precats are in the exhaust manifolds. Toss those and you have more power.

The Y-pipe is a small hindrance, but it won't cripple your horsepower gains that much.

Actually, those obx version 1 headers will give similar gains, maybe a little more than an aftermarket y-pipe. They suck. You COULD get that y remade with a reasonable merge and they would probably be similar to all other header systems

Thanks for the feedback so far. I suppose I shouldve looked at the pics a little more closely. So the obvious drawback of these is the y-pipe. I just want to make sure that the performance gain would warrant the hassle of the installation. I only paid $114/shipped for these, should I throw 'em on and see what happens? Or better yet, what's the likelihood an aftermarket y-pipe would work with these? Slim, I am guessing.

I think Kooks Headers is based on long island, I wonder what it cost to have them either improve this y-pipe or just fab me up a new one?

Probably not worth the money. You can buy a set of gen II OBX for around $300 or so. I would flip those you bought and go that route. Should be your cheapest bet.

Roderiques and mistmax, you both have good points and I am still not sure what I am gonna do. Lol.

Byrdman- I am still gonna get new struts, I got eibachs for $95/shipped and I am not sure whether my strut is blown or the suspension on the gle is crappy lol. I only got the header because I THOUGHT it was a good deal but now I am not too sure about it. Heheh.

lol! no the gle suspension is definitely ****ty...too soft and bouncy in my opinion. Plus when my front struts blew, it was like driving a boat! Honestly I think anything was better spring/strut wise after that haha. If I'm not mistaken, the GLE/GXE share the same spring, and the SE is different? Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Chances are if you hate the GLE suspension you're gonna love different springs

So the headers were delivered today and I have to say the quality is better than I thought it'd be. The welds and good, the flex section is in good shape, the metal is discolored from the heat but no signs of rust which is a sign of decent stainless...I still don't know what to do with them. I thinking I might just resell them here, not 100% though??

anyone interested in some headers???

You can see the bungs near the bottom of the collectors in the picture.

E-subliminal- they do have the bungs, I'll get those pics after I get home from work tomorrow asap.

Seeker- If e-subliminal doesn't want them, you're next in line.

About the "aren't the stock unequal length y pipe?" I am honestly not too sure (I am also very tired...haha) hopefully some one here will know to help you out.
