4DSC decal on your 5th Gen

Has anyone here looked at the 7th Gen 4DSC window sticker and thought it might look good on your 5th Gen?

It’s a 1” x 4” inside-window decal, that Nissan puts on the rear driver-side. The text is a white-ish silver, on transparent backing. I kind of like it.

Now I’m not saying I’m going to do it! So if your instinct is to bash me for race-me riceboy stickers, try to hold that thought. I mean, it was clever on the 3rd Gen, and it looks interesting on the 7th Gen… perhaps they meant to do it every 2 models, but forgot or something? (What?! It's possible! )

So, did anyone actually do it? Do you have pictures?

[edited -- January 24, 2010]

Fast forward from November to the end of January, where a custom 4DSC decal design has emerged, with vinyl cut decals made by erty67, "The Decal Specialist". Here are the details, up-front for those of you finding this thread for the first time. Or you could read through entire the thread; it's kind of interesting.

By the way, it's neither of these 2 images below. I think the stripy one is the original 3rd Gen, outside-window sticker. I'm not real crazy about it. I don't know what the other one is... pre-release, maybe.

Rather, what I saw had the "4" extending downward into the lower text. Don't know why I can't find an example online easily enough, but anyway, it's not these two here.

I want a 3.5V6 badge on the back so civic drivers in their lawnmowers wont be thinking this is an old 2.5 altima.

This decal > all.

* But seriously, the 4DSC decal should look nice in the window of your 5.5. For the 3rd gen that was the main push on the marketing side, (if you watch the commercials) and they meant to bring it back the reputation with the 7th gen. The 5th/6th gens weren't really marketed as nimble handling, taut 'sports cars' persay, just fast sedans.

We have a member up here in Toronto who made a small batch of these stickers (which mount on the inside) and as my windows are tinted the sticker is rather stealth in appearance ... he is also listed on this site as (hadman)

5th gen maxima is not really a 4DSC. 3rd gen even had an independent rear suspension. jussayin

That run was for inside and outside versions of the original 3rd gen stickers.

http://forums.maxima.org/1st-3rd-gen...mited-run.html

I'm interested in seeing the 7th gen decal on the 5th gen. Tempted to just take a picture of one on the lot, and do a little image editing.

I'm aware of that. However, I think I could sleep at night still knowing the transgression.

Cute bear. Not what I'm looking for, but still pretty cute.

Yes, I very clearly remember those ads. This guy was dreaming about driving his new 3rd Gen Maxima, when he stopped to pick up his boss and 2 other people, who leaned in and said, "We need a ride to the shareholders meeting." Great ad. I had a friend in 1992 who bought a loaded SE in pearl white and beige leather, with the 5MT. Loved that car. (Wow,was that really 17 years ago? Holy cow.)

The 6th Gen got the independent rear suspension back. I always thought they handed quite well for their size and weight.

I need to call Courtesy Nissan tomorrow and see how much that decal costs. I'm guessing shipping is the cost of a stamp, but you never know.

Still waiting to see if anyone has the 7th gen sticker. Love to see a picture of it on our 5th gens.

That ad was pretty epic. Nissan's commercials until 2004 were awesome, especially with their sports cars (Z32).

When I worked at Jim Miller Nissan last winter, I tried to get some of those stickers. They wouldn't do anything for me so I'm not sure how one would be able to get ahold of it.

Let us know what you find at courtesy, I may throw one on my window. My friend has got a "SHIFT_DE-K" on her AE

maxima's are far from being "4 door sports cars"....our cars lack seriously in power/handling ability to be called such...there are only a handful of maximas that are modded enough to be called so. So I would say it would not go with our cars... a cts v on the other hand.....

It totally does go with the car. ya know for 7k(what i paid for my 02) this thing halls Im stock and chirp in 3rd. When your 4-door beats most 2-door coup sports cars with v-6's you have a 4-door sports car.

Yeah for sure the CTS V is sexy, but its an auto ONLY. costs how much. and personally it fits in a higher class than sports car. with what 550HP? thats more than a sports car. if that things a sports car than whats a 240Z?

It's an auto that runs with lambo's 0-60, handles great, and is very nice. You call your stock 5.5 maxima a 4dsc but a cts-c isn't....you're too stupid for me to even bother typing any more in this thread.

What a crappy way to start the day, having to read your condescending negativity. I mean, it's OK to be a bully if that's your nature, as long as you also contribute. But you contribute nothing to this topic. There's plenty of places in the OT you can go if you want to tear into people so you can feel like a big man.

4DSC is just a marketing gimmick, you total tool.

Nah, probably not so much in the way you're thinking. I just got really upset seeing HotWaxTree ridiculed for no apparent reason. It wasn't right.

Besides, he already claimed he wouldn't "bother typing any more in this thread", so if he does then he's a tool and a hypocrite.

Let's watch.

So I grabbed my camera, and took a little ride at lunch.

Here is the 2010 4DSC driver-side, backseat window decal:

Which means that other decal (not the stripy one) must have been a pre-production version. Funny, but I rather liked that version. Still, this one is kind of neat. Interesting font. Very contemporary.

I still like just sporting the abbrviation. It keeps those who have no idea what it means, saying " WTF does that mean?"

I agree. That's why I prefer the pre-production version of the decal. You could have cleanly cut off the wording underneath. But that's not to be, it seems.

Anyway, I've got Courtesy Nissan looking this up for me. More later.

The 3rd gen sticker was originally on the outside. The guy here on the forum who had a group buy was offering both inside and outside versions.

The 7th gen sticker is on the inside only.

Guys, I just had a call back from Courtesy Nissan. He couldn't find the decal in their parts system, so he called his Nissan rep, who confirmed the decal could not be ordered separately.

In other words, if you want that little sticker, it will cost you $30,000 and some change.

OK. Now I'm pissed. Short of taking a 7th gen for a test drive and stealing the sticker; (harmless, but just plain wrong), there has to be a way to do this.

There are web-based, custom decal shops, like http://www.decalzone.com, where for real cheap (less than $5) you can customize your text in selected colors and fonts, like this:

It would be 1" x 4", on a transparent backing.

That's got possibilities. Still, I just wanted the 7th gen sticker. I didn't want to trial-and-error some custom thing. I mean, it was already a stretch putting a 7th gen item on my 5.5...

This whole idea is starting to crash. Maybe for the best.

I don't think there is any way around this one guys.
I would recommend contacting a sign company that could create vinyl decals. That's what I did for mine. I am sure they can create anything you want if you send them the correct application. Just my .02 cents...

Yeah, it's starting to sound like a project. I really don't want another car-related project... I can barely juggle the ones I got going on as it is.

If someone else wants to take this ball and run with it, I'll tag along. But right about now, I'm feeling shut down.
