My trunk slams shut

I installed a OEM spoiler on my 03 maxima. No problems there, however the weight of the spoiler causes the trunk to slam and it doesnt pop open like it used too.

I was just wondering what keep the trunk lids from slamming when the spoilers are put on the right from the factory?

My trunk is the same as yours and my spoiler is from the factory. I am curious to see what answers come up...

Right from the factory and it slams??

Now im curious to see if there is an OEM solution to the problem. I thought originally if it came from the dealer with a spoiler that the slamming was not an issure.

If anyone has any pictures of the inside of the trunk, that would be a big help

Thanks guys

Nothing keeps them from slamming. Mine is factory-installed and it also slams if I let it go from, let's say, the midway position (I'm assuming yours stays put when it's all the way open and it just slams if you let it go as you bring it down to close it).
Nothing to adjust in my trunk, as someone suggested in your other thread.
When I open it, it barely just unlatches the hook but it will not go up at all.

Mine is also from the factory, and when you pop it... it unlocks but doesn't open all the way up if that is what your are expecting. Once it is opened it stays all the way up until you decide to close it, it is a pretty simple hinge that holds it there are no hydrolic arms to lift it on its own.

What they all said. It barely pops when I unlock it. Almost like it's sticking to the weather stripping.

And if I let it go from anywhere it slams pretty hard.

get stiffer tention rods for the trunk. it will make the trunk feel a bit lighter though it will not make it go up all the way by itself.

the spoilers are heavy, and maximas dont have trunk shocks to help with the added weight. i noticed the same thing when i added a spoiler to my car.

Dealer sells tension rod kits for the trunk for the extra spoiler weight. These are very tricky and dangerous to put in if you dont know what you are doing so be carefull !!
