with my recent success with this i just wanted to post this up for many of the new members that have been kickin around here latly and might not be aware of it...
I did this today and WOW i cant believe the night and day difference it made,..dont overlook this like i did for the past year+ ...also....make sure you get the open cell foam tape... not the kind that is squishy and molds to the way you squeeze it,..,..seriously took me maybe a total of 10-15 mins for both sides,.. i was going to take pics but housecore's sit sums it up,...so yeah...if your a new member or havnt done this yet,.. for the <5$ in parts,.. theres no reason not to ,.. great project for the weekend if you have any Q's feel free to ask..
Yeah, mine stuck out like that at first... so i just ripped the foam to make it thinner and re-did it... It just takes some fiddling around with, but it's not to hard.

thats what open cell looks like up close,.. its soft and flexible but will not mold to how its pressed,..
on a side note be sure to close your sunroof shade when listening to only windnoise,.. i never noticed how loud my sunroof is now that i cant hear any noise in the back,..guess its time to find some shims,.. goes to show how loud it really was back there ,..

+1. Luckily the rear window fix was done on my car before I became the owner. But the most annoying wind noise is from up front & the sun roof. Passengers in my car have even commented while on the highway, "why is it so loud?"
Just learned to live with it unfortunately.

There's a fix for that too. It involves adding or removing shims to make the glass flush with the roof. The shims are from Nissan and don't cost much. I think there's a TSB for it and a write up somewhere.
+1 on the rear window fix as well. I did it on my car and my wifes 00 and it made a big difference. Well worth it.

so far yup lol..,..pick up some of the harder rubber yet still flexible stuff,..and use it in the door frame to make a better seal,.. its what i would do..
i'm wondering how much it costs for a new seal from nissan.
Nissan makes a kit to fix it with the TSB. When I checked (4 years ago) it was under $20.00 but the foam from Home Depot was $4.00. It's not a matter of replacing the seal. The fix just builds it up from behind.

OOooh that makes sense.. but thats for the windows right?
My wind noise is coming from the drivers door like towards the dash... but not by the window.. its like between the door and the car itself..

i did the back windows and to be honest, i didn't feel any difference. I have a bigger ongoing noise issue so maybe that is still overpowering all other noises...the bottom of my windshield has terrible wind noise. I've been wanting to fix it for the longest time (but have only recently come to a determination on the exact location of the noise) but just cant gather enough information on how to do so.
maybe i'll tug some of that foam tape at the bottom...
I have weathertech deflectors on all the windows and when the windows are close, you can still hear outside noise as if the window is cracked a tiny bit, would this product help me too?
I tried this today on one of the rear windows, without success. The weather stripping fits in the channels perfectly, but afterward there was no room to put the window seal back properly. After trying for a long time, I gave up and ripped out the weather strip.
And now the window seal is back in, but no longer a perfect fit.
That was a a bit of a disappointment for me, on the heels of a coil that started to fail today.
So this actually worked for you guys? I just don't see how.
