update- new alarm and stereo setup up and coming

Okay so since my car was stolen I have decided to upgrade my car alarm from the factory one. I am getting a compustar 2way alarm. It is going to have a impact sensor and breach sensors on all the doors, trunk and hood. It has a 5000 foot range and the two way remote notifies you if the alarm goes off. I am also having a siren installed for the alarm so its not just the horn honking.

One of the most exciting features of this system for me is that it is going to be set to automatically lock the doors and arm the system 40 seconds after I exit the car. So if I ever forget to lock it again (I forgot one time and paid dearly) the car will arm itself automatically and nobody will be messing with my stuff.

I am also getting a car starter installed with this system so I will have no reason to keep my spare key in the car to warm it up.

AND to replace my cd player that was stolen I am getting a 6.5" touchscreen LCD with dvd/ipod/usb and navigation built in.

To make this all that much better the guys who are getting me all this are a client of mine for graphic design services and I dont have to pay for any of it! I am going to just work off the total by designing their promotional materials.

This is gonna be sweet! I guess getting my car stolen was a blessing in disguise because now this thing is going to be sweet and armed with the latest technology to protect my investment. Im just waiting to get my new locks in before I install all this so there is no risk of it being stolen on me.

Wow! Yeah, it really was a blessing wasn't it! The alarm will be great for your situation. That LCD nav/HU/dvd/ipod thing is what makes me jealous I'd love to get something like that for free... It seems the universe has righted itself for you

Get a Directed product or don't bother.

Unless you're getting an intelligent programmable bypass module - such as ExpressKit, you'll still need a spare key in the car.

So - you're going to install some ICE to make the car more appealing to thieves?

Good luck...

Ya they have some sort of device that integrates to add the remote start as a third key so its no problem. These guys are very high end car electronics. Their regular clientele own Ferraris, lambos, aston marton... They do high quality work and are very good at it. My setup is peanuts for them, Im pretty sure the average setup for them to install on a car is $5-10,000.

We have an ongoing joke about the system they put in my 91 corolla because it was the biggest piece of junk to ever come in their shop lol

And yes, I am installing more ice for the thieves but Im backing it up with a killer alarm system. Not to mention this time Im going to have receipts and serial numbers so if it happens to go missing I can get it covered by insurance.

as for the flamethrowers, Im in the process of developing a prototype device on the door handle for some electroshock therapy

fail, 404 investment not found. a maxima isn't going to appreciate, sorry just the way it is. I also agree w/ djfrestyl, you're just making your car more attractive to thieves. Good luck, anyway.

Sorry to say, but Compustar is FAR from a 'killer' anti-theft system.

And I don't really care what types of cars they work on, that does not qualify them as a 'better' shop.

Its not an investment in the sense that I will earn money. It is an investment because I am investing in my own happiness and enjoying my vehicle. Im never selling this thing after all the money I already put and and future plans for it.

If you saw the quality of their work or talked to them and saw how knowledgeable and skilled they are you would qualify them as a better shop. They do very clean installs, I have already had 3 systems installed with them and am extremely satisfied with each one.

Ok, that's fine - your trust in a shop is up to your own perception.

But I'd still get a Directed system over Compustar.

OP: It's pretty good you're getting all that stuff for free (I would've mentioned lojack but it wouldn't be free)

Alarms are a good deterrent (and one would rather have one than not) but it doesn't do much for a smash-n-grab. I only say this b/c more ICE in your car won't be offset by an alarm.

Either way, that shouldn't mean you can't have fun with your car, so enjoy lol.

i've had 2 compustars and the new viper alarm on my s2000...the viper alarm is more of a pain in the *** than the compustar... the compustar in my opinion is far better than my viper... hell even the range alone is awesome..

there were times where people tried to mess with my cars and the compustar reacted quicker...

Thats sweet! Glad to know you are happy with the compustar. I trust these guys are very experience. I told them what I was looking for and what my expectations of the system were and they recommended this one for me.

I will for sure post pics of the navi setup (its a kenwood) once its all installed. Im still waiting for my new locks....

I do agree with 2-way pager remotes being a good way to protect against theives...however if someone really wants your car or whats in it they are going to take it...its the unfortunate truth of the world we live in where people are so criminal that they have to resort to stealing other peoples' belongings...

Dont view the 2 way alarm or expensive price of the alarm system as a panacea. Take it for what it is...hopefully next time someone tries to mess with your ride you will be in pager range and you can get to your car in time to serve up a good old a$$ kicking....because thats what all these f-ing theives deserve. period.

it is good that you are adding all those new goodies to your car.. but.. think about this. Your car was stolen before and didn't have all that stuff, trust me, if they want your car they will take it no matter what. wish you well and enjoy your new goodies

as much as i agree to the saying of...if they want your car, the'll take it...

But it helps...ever since i've gotten mine, it showed once on the monitoring system of my compustar that it was tampered with. but not broken into.. The alarm went off and it showed on my pager.

its basically saying dont get an alarm cuz its worthless... when in reality, it does help to a degree...

I think that the alarm, in most cases should be enough to deter the average car theif, but either way it will make you feel much better knowing that there is no way someone will mess with your car again without you knowing. Goodluck with your new system. Post pics.
