5.5 Gen Front Bumper Issue

OK, so long story short, I wrecked my 2001, and asked the shop to use a 2002/2003 front bumper and grille (but keep the 2000-2001 headlights). They call me and tell me that everything went smoothly, but that the 02-03 headlights must be taller, because with my headlights and the 5.5 bumper/grille my car now has a gap between the bottom of the headlights and the bumper. Is this normal? Or could they have possibly mounted something incorrectly? I'll get pics ASAP.

Don't quote me on this, but I've heard of people swapping headlights from one gen to the other, keeping the same bumper/grille, and having gap and fitment issues. You are doing basically something similar, but with the bumper/grille instead, so maybe it is what it is.

Correct me if im wrong but yes this is normal I have seen people selling their 03 maxima with 01 headlight & it always have a gap under the headlight. Best bet would be rock it like that till you can hands on some 02/03 headlights.

Ok so IF this gap is because of the 5th gen headlights, will ebay headlights fill the gap? Or will I have to go with 5.5 Xenon's? Because I just bought a set of plug-n-play HID's for mine.

I assumed that. But, every set I see on ebay is labeled "2000 2001 2002 2003". Like they'll fit all years perfectly. But how would I know which would fill the gap if they all say 2000-2003?

Depends what kind of ebay headlights. If those ebay headlights are direct swap to 5.5 then you are good. Since 5 gen vs 5.5 gen's bumpers are different. Since you are getting the 5.5 bumper, you might as well get the OEM headlights, but those are pricey. What kind of HID do you have? Keep in mind that the HID's bulb for both gens are different. Good luck!

I got the 9003's from Umnitza on this forum. They should fit, even in an aftermarket 02-03 housing right?

i personally know somebody who bought a pair and they said the same thing they were the size of the 5.5s but more than likely u will need to get the dealer clips for them to bolt up

No, 5th gen uses 9003.
5.5 gen uses D2R HID bulbs.
