I walked out of a bar and I saw that someone had kicked the crap out of my car. I don't have any enemies and I didn't cut anyone off or anything so I don't know why it happened. Most of the damage is just to the paint. I have deep scuff marks on my front and rear bumper and on the passenger side doors.
I don't know if I should just fix the damage or if I should just get the whole thing painted. Money is tight but I don't want my car to look stupid either...
Well if you have insurance most of the cost should be covered. The body shop will have to blend the paint to your existing paint job so if there is enough damage they may have to paint a large amount of the car. As far as a new paint job goes it maybe a good idea to get a quote on how much repair is needed and what out of pocket it would cost if you decided to spray the rest of the car. With a complete paint job though I would stay with the stock color otherwise the cost will go way up. If they don't need to respray your engine bay and door jams and trunk ect, you might be able to get away with a new paintjob on the exterior for a fairly good price. Price out some body shops tell them your plan and see what they suggest. Shop around though and get different estimates and call your insurance too. Good luck.
Thanks man. I am definatley gonna stick with the stock color. I have full coverage but if I go through insurance, I know Ill drive the premium up and I just got a speeding ticket last year...so, it might be cheaper in the long run to pay out of pocket.
This blows. Guess this means my springs & struts are gonna have to wait

damnn thats rough man I would be pissed. Let me know what they quote you on for a price because the same parts of my car needs to be repainted as well.
Those can most likely be buffed right out. Save for the paint that was removed from the door strip, everything else is just clear coat. Take it to a detailer before spending thousands on new paint.

I don't think you need a whole new paintjob, just some touch up work where those scratches are deepest.
Don't waste your money on a new paint job. From what I can see in the pictures, they should definitely be able to buff out. If detailing is not your thing, call around.
I brought it to a detailing/car wash place that does minor body repair like scratch removal, etc. the day after it happened and asked about it, they said that it would help but most of the damage would still be there. It is hard to tell in the pics but alot that is pretty deep. There's actually more damage than what I posted but it was raining, so I just took a few quick pics. I am gonna shop around and get some second opinions...see what happens,I guess.
However,I did already have some pre-existing damage (not shown in the pics) and I always wanted to get that repaired, so I am half way considering just living with it for a while a getting it painted and get that stillen front-lip and rear fascia that I've wanted...

Where in Farmingdale? I live here. Unfortunately there's plenty of dirtbags that roam the streets in the later hours, which is why I only park my car in the driveway. It's unfortunate what this town turned into. Anywho, enough rambling. If you come around here often I can try asking my bodyshop guy and see if he can give you an estimate, if that's the route you wanna go. But I haven't spoken to him in a while, I'd have to swing by his shop and see if he's there. I'd try what the others are saying though, try to buff it out as best you can, even though I know how much something like that hurts.
Theres no reason to paint the whole car if they cant get some of the scratches out , there are plenty of decent body shops here on long island that could fix just waht needs to be

Honestly I dunno exactly where it happened in Farmingdale. This is how it went, I went to my g/f's in Babylon (no damage yet), we went to see a movie at the Multiplex on 110 and then we went to Croxley Ale's on main st. and I noticed the damage when we left the bar. So I dont know if it happen at the movie theater or at the bar....but, that movie theater doesnt always draw a great crowd so that'd be my guess.
I don't go to that area too often but I'll keep the offer in mind, I appreciate it. I am gonna give buffing a shot once it stop raining here. I am gonna shop around and get some quotes. I know a guy (he's a friend or friend) that does body work and he's been doing it for like 30 years or something and does really good work, so it'll prolly end up there, just a matter of when...

yeah that really sucks no matter where it happened...you're talkin the farmingdale multiplex in airport plaza? a LOT of dirtbags roam around there especially near the theater's parking lot...and where croxley's is isn't much better right by the train tracks haha. So very unfortunate though, but lemme know if you need anything.
Find someone with a rotary or a DA polisher and he/she will be able to take those marks out with ease using a combination of compound and polishes. I know a potent person in NY that is able to do that for you for an extremely minimal fee, in case you're interested. It will probably take 45min at most, and it will look better than new.
Judging from the damage, the scuffs are on the clear coat, and not that deep.

Let me know.
Just outta curiousity where in NY is this person? I would live if I could get it buffed out especially since money's tight right now but, just by feeling the scuffed areas you can feel it's pretty deep in some areas...It's worth a shot though.

He is a regular poster on the Meguiar's detailing forum. He uses nothing but the best materials, and he has the knowledge and equipment to get those scratches out easily. I don't know the guy personally, but I have seen some of the works he's done and I feel comfortable recommending him to fellow maxima.org members!
That sicks *** and I know how you feel. I came out of a bar down town and there had been a fight in the parking lot where my car was. One of the guys tackeled the other guy into my passenger rear door. The cops didnt catch ether one of them so I had paintless dent repair fix it because The paint didnt get scratched. I was a little more lucky then you but I do know how you feel.
