paint it yourself man, I told you, its really really not that hard. You saw how mine came out. Get the paint from paintscratch.com. Sand the lip down so all the shiny surface is gone, then primer it, then paint it. You're set. With all the materials youre looking at $50 or so.

Or...take it to my uncle's body shop in fresh meadows and have him do it. Im not sure about merlot being more expensive or not. If its not, then $300 to paint a front lip is wayyy more than it should be. Most shops should charge between $150-$200 for a proper job. Other shops charge $100 and just paint over the lip w/o any prep work.

paint it yourself. I did that for my fender, which turned out decent. That or go to sherwin williams and they can make a can of paint for you there for ten bucks.

1. did you rattle can it or spray it?

2. did you use any special kind of primer/clear?

3. did you have any kind of added flex agent to prevent spyder cracks?

4. any info on what grit/material you used to sand?

5. and anything else you want to tell me lol..

1- It's a spray can (that rattles)

2- Just used regular primer...any autozone or auto store should have it. Buy the primer that goes on plastic, not steel.

3- I didnt use any flex agent.

4- I used a scotchbrite pad to get all the gloss/shine off the surface of the lip. I could have used sandpaper but I had this at home and it works perfect. If you use sandpaper, a 300 grit sandpaper should be good.

5- TAKE YOUR TIME!! Do NOT rush a paint job. Allow sufficient time to pass between coats and each coat should be VERY light. When you use too much paint or clearcoat it gets spotty. Its no fun sanding down everything and donig it again. Do it right the first time.

Yeah if you're gonna encourage him to paint it himself he will need a flexible primer and flex agent in his paint...anyone got those #'s

FYI:
I paid $100 to get my front lip painted by a bodyshop, and the color (grey lustre) is spot on.
